What kinds of things do you need to take to college with you?

nah, ya gotta save this for the mandatory care packages parents must send. It is obligatory that a care package be sent every two weeks filled with beauty products (soap, hair care stuff, lotion etc) and munchies. After all, you want to make the kid popular. Trust me, everyone in the hall will know who is getting care packages and when. :teeth:
Hee - okay true story... My grandma used to send me a box of her AMAZING peanut butter cookies every month or so. She packed them in popcorn so they wouldn't get broken (too lazy to go buy styrofoam peanuts is what she told me, but I suspect she just like the kookiness of it). I would pass around the box the first night so that my roommate and I didn't eat them all ourselves. Inevitably, the box would hit someone with the "munchies," and they would eat every last piece of popcorn out of the box! It used to crack us up every time.

o yeah..the care packages are great!! i got a small blanket when it started to get cold..and hat and an umbrella.......its nice to get mail from home

I have one question for all of the college experts...My DD's birthday is right after she starts in September.....is it proper to send her a package and/or flowers so soon?? Can I send flowers....will she get them?

When kids go to college they are surprised to find out that they actually miss their home and their family:p . It's good for them to get reminders from mom and dad that they are still loved and remembered. You most certainly should send her a package for her birthday.

When you drop her off, check out how much extra space she has. While flowers are nice, there might not be a place to put them. While the space available to college students hasn't increased since we were in the dorm, the amount of stuff they bring has increased exponentially. I sent my daughter lots of packages, but never sent flowers, because there just wasn't room in her room.

Good luck...I found it wasn't nearly as bad to send her off as I expected it to be! But its nice to have my baby home for the summer, too.
