I wish they had more full-service restuarants at Animal Kingdom especially. Wouldn't it be great if they had a Thai Restaurant in Asia?

Also, I think NY Street in MGM is very underutilized. I think it would be great to have maybe a NY style deli there or perhaps a Irish pub or something? They need to bring some action down there. We just use it as a cut-through street. There are really no attractions or restaurants there.

What do you think???

They definitely need a full service sit down restaurant at AK. Maybe Indian, Thai or Chinese/Indiana Jones theme. I also always thought it would be fun to have a Stage Door Canteen type of restaurant at MGM. They could make it really fun with theming entertainment.

Definitely Thai or Indian! Even a buffet-style sit-down would be nice, similar to Boma- some 'exotic' food choices as well as more adventuous stuff.

That is a great idea for NY Street in MGM!! I never thought of that, just a real NY Deli :D

South American food, Caribbean food, Spanish food. The list goes on and on!

I wish WDW would spice it up a bit. Alot of ethnic food has been toned down. I'd like to see things a bit more authentic.

Gina,
I agree with you completely! Unfortunately I think Disney is trying to please the masses and therefore feel the need to tone it down. I think the majority of diners are not that adventurous.

Just my opinion,

A Thai restaurant in Animal Kingdom would be awesome! AK needs a nice sit-down place; it's pretty short on food selections. (I don't like the Rainforest Cafe and I don't think it counts anyway since it isn't Disney.)

My first pick, though, would be Indian. Mmmm Indian. Saag paneer, korma, malai kofta... not to mention the breads. Naan, paratha, poori... oh man. I would be happy with just an Indian bread stand!

I don't know about the AK restaurant since none of those suggestions appeal to me, but that's just me. My wife is always telling me I'm not an adventurous eater.

I do like the idea of adding some more restaurants around New York street in MGM. I just don't know how "authentic" a "New York" deli will actually be down there. Just as with pizza, it doesn't quite taste the same anywhere else. Besides, WDW typically uses Hormel products. They would need Boar's Head or something very similar.

The pub idea is a good one, but the food would have to be more basic and less gourmet than typical in WDW restaurants. No place for a Culinary Institute chef...

well-they USED to have pad thai and satay sticks at AK -don't know if they do anymore ...not really the same

anyway-WDW isn't really the place to go when you want something as specific as Dominican or Eritrean or what have you...I have a feeling they wouldn't do a very good job of it even if they did have it.

I want a Tarzan character meal at AK and definitely something sit-down for lunch other than Rainforest, which I can get in other cities.

I'd like more character lunches, too. A Beauty and the Beast character meal would be great.

I agree Disney doesn't do "authentic" very well. I was just throwing out ideas...I do think that NY Street and AK are two places that are in need of a place to eat, whether gourmet or not...but something unique and fun.

Another place I feel needs some work is at the end of sunset blvd. I hope I don't offend anyone that likes those fast food places down there, but they just don't do anything for me. I suppose they need to feed the masses and therefore are necessary, but wouldn't it be neat to have an indoor/outdoor type diner with a jukebox and maybe waitresses on rollerskates or something? Just an idea.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

I would love to see an Indian restaurant (Asian Indian not Naive American Indian) on WDW property.

Erikarate-I think you're onto something with NY Street...poss even a total reconceptualization of that area...

I mean it's suppposed to be a movie set of an older early 20th c. NY right-a golden era for MGM-well isn't MGM out of the picture now , for Disney anyway? If money weren't an issue-redo it-make it more NYPD blue or something more Disney/ABC and put in an Eileen's cheesecake-a hot dog vendor on the street-or as you say a pub or Deli-I'm thinking even a Ratner's or a Katz's, cleaned up for Disney-

It may not be as romantic as the whole era of "singin' in the rain" etc. but I'm all for progress and experimentation...it does feel underutilized...

You know, I've been getting ready to retire. I can see myself running a Sabrett's Hot Dog wagon on NY Street.

I want to see the Liberty Inn at Epcot go! Why can't we have a great representation of all of the great cusines of America? New Orleans Cajun, Memphis Barbeque, New England Seafood, etc..
Not everyone feels that great american food is greasy burgers and hot dogs. They are missing a great opportunity to represent fine dining for America.
I'm with you all the way about dining at animal kingdom. If they don't want to add a sit down-menu restaurant, why not a great buffet like Boma? Any fresh, well prepared food is a step in the right direction for me.

I agree! America is the only country that offers only fast food. It's just not right.

Yum...barbeque.

See...now this is what I'm talking about!!!

I hear those imagineers get paid the big bucks...why haven't THEY come up with this stuff. They must see what we are here, I mean about NY street and AK. NY is IMO one of the greatest cities in the world and I just don't think they represent it very well. They could do a lot with that area.

BTW I lOVE sabretts!
