I make my own autograph books and I have the charectors that don't have the gloved hands and such sign with a sharpie. I have different colors for different charectors and it has worked out quite well. I got the idea b/c Mad Hatter actually used a red sharpie to sign my book one time. This year I am using ZIG markers, they are acid free, fade resisten scrapbooking markers that are very similar to sharpies and come in alot more colors than sharpies and will write smoothly on most surfaces. The "ink" flow is really even, too and don't require shaking or pumping to get it started. Almost all Wal-Marts sell a starter pack of primary colored ZIGs in the scrapbook aisle in the craft section.
BWT when I had the disney standard auto book, the sharpie didn't bleed onto the next page, but I could have just got lucky. Those pages are so thin I would leave a page or two between.
