I created a playlist for ipod to play in the background..I had Dave Matthews, Beatles, Bn Fold's, Peter Gabriel, Marvin Gaye, Coldplay, Bob Marley

We are doing an at home wedding but we are playing Disney instrumentals

We used an iPod with playlists of Brazilian music (samba/bossa nova), jazz, and space age pop (Esquivel, Henry Mancini) for our entire reception, but I picked the quieter songs for the mealtime playlist.

The general rule of thumb (at least for DJs) is mellower/quieter music during dinner so people can converse easily and uptempo stuff during the cocktail hour and the rest of the reception after dinner.

We're going to play Disney Love Songs in the background...because I love it. Most the music we have will be Disney as it's the only music DFi and I agree on.

We're doing a 1930s theme, so it narrows down our options a bit more. But, I've got Glen Miller, Irving Berlin, Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby, Big Band music, and Duke Ellington. While they are all obviously "dated" most of the songs are really well known but very good dinner music. I was playing them for my mother the other night and she was singing along with almost all of them!

We had the jazz trio, but I requested a ragtime trio. They were able to deliver, so we had jazz/ragtime.

We're going to have a mix but a lot of rock influence...like 3 Doors Down, Billy Joel, etc. We're trying to mix the songs across the generations but still make them flow. Here's hoping it'll work! I'm sure the DJ will get a feel for what we're looking for and throw in some we haven't even thought of.

Disney song wise, we're having the love/instrumental songs for the ceremony. But we're going to play "Under the Sea" and stuff to get the kids involved too. The pics will be adorable with the aquarium window behind them!
