What kind of free stuff can I get on my honeymoon?

:love2: Hello Disney Addicts!

I have a question: I am wondering what free stuff I can get when I go on my honeymoon...what places should I particularly look for when we are down at Walt Disney World? We heard things from other couples about how they had received all of this free stuff...my fiance and I have the T-shirts for our honeymoon and we have heard to get the mouse ears...however, I heard from another couple that went on their honeymoon to Disney World this past summer that said that they did not get ANY free stuff on their honeymoon and they wore the T-shirts...can any of you past honeymooners give me any tips? Where to go? We're going to all of the theme parks, except for Animal Kingdom, so the more that I can find out, the better. Thank you all for your help...I owe you one.

Oh lord, this may become a flame suit kind of post.

The best advice is not to expect ANYTHING. T-shirts and ears will bring one of the best things in the world, lots of congratulations. You may get some perks here and there - like a free desert at dinner or something. But it isn't like they always do it.

So again, don't expect anything. If you get pixie dust, enjoy it and be excited. But don't expect anything.

LOL I hope there's no flaming.

wwjdfrogtwid - of course I understand that you're read lots of stuff on the boards about the freebies that some of the Disney Brides and Honeymooners alike have received. But as you said you've read that some come away with nothing.

LOL I'm a bit like Monica and Chandler and as much as I live for the moment and I am so happy to be spending a romantic honeymoon with my hubby and feeling the love etc etc "I like the free stuff". But I tried to keep an open mind and managed my expectations that we may not get the free stuff. Paul and I were not overtly explicit to our CM's about the fact that we were on our honeymoon let alone got married at Disney. I only wore my bridal headband a couple of times otherwise we just wore our little Mickey & Minnie Bride and Groom pins.

All of our PS had that we were on our honeymoon and we did get some certificates and free desserts and got to ride a couple of rides just on our own but to be honest most of the time we forgot that we had the pins on so all of the kind gestures made by the CM's were always a nice surprise to us.

I really think that this approach along with some t-shirts or the bride and groom ears and/or pins stand you in pretty good stead for something - even if it's the Congratulations that you will get from so many other guests, heck to be honest that was worthy enough and made us feel so special :)

We had a similar experience to Sam's. We wore the hats, because we thought they were fun, not becuase we expected any free stuff. We got free desserts at several restaurants (but not all) and got to ride a few rides by ourselves. My favorite thing that happened was on the last night of our honeymoon on the bus to EPCOT, the bus driver had us sit up front and made everyone on the bus wish us Happy Wedding! I also loved all the random congratulations we got from park guests and questions about the wedding. It made us feel very special!

well, of course you get your room compted for free on the night of your wedding. you can stay at whatever hotel you want to for the one night for free. so, that's one thing i know off the bat that you can get for free.

Just to clarify that this is ONLY for those who are having a Disney FairyTale Custom Wedding at WDW.

LOL didn't want all the past Disney honeymooners now saying that they didn't get this ;)

Just to add - the comp night is only for DFTW custom couples who have met their room night requirement.

edit: Oooops! Sam beat me to it!

Hee-hee Helen but you put in about meeting the room night requirment - I forgot that bit ;)

hehe Sam - I didn't want any honeymoon couples thinking they were entitled to a free room night and then not understand why they didn't get one!

Sam,

I was just wondering where you got your Mickey/Minnie bride and groom pins? There is no way on EARTH that my fiance will wear groom mickey ears, but there is definitely hope for a pin! LOL!

Jennifer

We found our pins on e-bay. DH ordered the hat early, so we had time to stretch it out.

If you can convince him of the hats, they really are fun!!! (Plus I loved wearing a veil for seven days)

Just plain and simple, and no flaming here...don't EXPECT anything for free. Be thankful if it does happen. DH and I went to celebrate our 10 year anniversary 4 years ago and I got a nice handmade card from a CM at DisneyQuest and we got front and centerstage at the Hoop Dee Doo which really was a special treat for me. :teeth:

I have a question about the free room the night of your wedding...

Is it ANY room? Meaning, I want to stay at the Grand Floridian. Do they give you the basic room or a big one?? Not that it matters...I'm staying no matter what. :teeth:

JohnsPrincess, if you meet your room night requirement, Custom brides get a complimentary night at any resort hotel for a standard room. So yes, you can choose to have a standard room at All Star Music or a standard room at the Grand Floridian. Either would be complimentary. If you are interested in a suite, then you can apply the complimentary amount toward the cost of the suite.

Here’s an example:
Cost of Grand Floridian standard garden view room $349 plus tax
Cost of Grand Floridian honeymoon concierge room $615 plus tax

$615 (cost of honeymoon room)
- $349 (price of standard room comped by Fairy Tale Weddings)
= $266 plus tax left to pay for the honeymoon room

Good post!!! I was actually wondering about this myself. Of course I do not expect to receive perks for this reason but if I do receive them they will be nice. I think I'd be happy enough if we received congratulations and best wishes from anyone tho. It's happy time. :lovestruc I'm still going to get the Mickey & Minnie bride & groom pin tho ;)

Thanks ead! I'll probably..."probably"...stick with the Grand Floridian Standard room. Lol. I don't care WHAT room it is in that hotel...even a broom closet. I'm staying there!! :bounce:
