What kind of Christmas tree do you have?

This is the first Christmas after both kids have moved out. Combine that with coming down from the high of my daughters wedding last week, and neither of us was into putting up a big tree this year. Typically we put up a 9-10 foot real tree, the widest and fatest we can find.

We started the tradition when there was a nearby farm that got amazing 9-10 foot trees for a flat $100. That lasted about 10 years before they stopped getting trees. We have had to pay so much more ($250+) since to get inferior trees and just couldn't do it this year.

So this year we have a baby 6' tree that was $59. It being so small made it so simple to setup. Normally it takes my son and I a great deal of effort to get the tree straight in the stand and in the house. There are multiple scrape marks on the ceiling where it turned out the tree was taller than the room.

This year it was so simple just by myself. No need to use a step ladder at all during the process. Disposal will be so simple as well.

Are you a real or artificial tree person? Big or small? Fat or skinny?

We just use an old cheap plastic one from Walmart. You know the one that looks like it was made out of green pipe cleaner (stealing a quote from my favorite Christmas movie, A Christmas Story). However, DW wants a Ballsome Hill, whatever that is. But we just have been using this one for about 5 years. That said, a lot of the bottom section of lights isn't working, so it looks like we will have to buy another one this season. Not looking forward to that.

Real. Really real 😂 We buy a permit and go out and cut ours fresh in the mountains. This year we went to a new area so our tree is smaller than usual. As for the getting the real tree to stand up we found an amazing tree stand that makes it SO easy, its called, Krinner Christmas Tree Genie

We used to have a 9' tree, but downsized because of the difficulty for us to put ornaments at the top.
This year it is 7'. I just sorted ornaments (well from the 3 boxes I got out) to put our favorites on the tree.

We've always had a 7 footer. We love it. But as I said, some of the lights went out. We only put balls on ours. DW has 3 tubs of Hallmark ornaments from the 70s-00s. All come with original box and wrappers. Her grandmother used to work for Hallmark, and my DW got them when her grandmother passed. We've never even put them out. Literally, 3 large tubs.

I haven't had a tree in a couple of years. I was planning on getting an artificial one this year but then I got a kitten. There is no way I will have a tree any time soon with her. She is a climber and will see the tree as a fun thing to climb.

We have a new kitten. She hast climbed yet but she keeps getting her head in the stand that holds water and getting water all over the place.

I have about 6 boxes of Hallmark ornaments going back to when my kids were little. And we keep buying them. Lots of Disney Hallmark and not Hallmark. All in boxes and packaged the way they came.

Pets and trees.......

Our dog was 1 or 2 ish and liked sleeping under the tree until the time his collar got caught in a drooping string of lights, he thought he was being attacked by demons, and ran, taking the tree down with him.

Fun times.

I hope your tree remains upright!

We had kittens and cats. Most didn't seem interested in the tree.....they liked to lay under and then a lot of times chase the train around when it was turned on.

Used to always be real, but probably about 12 years ago changed to artificial and we'll never go back. We like a med.ish width.

We had a real one for years but switched to artificial 2 years ago due to allergies. Aside from the allergy issue, it's so much easier to deal with too, finding the right one, needles, water, sap, disposal. The one we got is about 8'. I guess I've got to get all that stuff out soon.

2 cats in our house, no one bothers it aside from the youngest 2 years ago got in it a few times as a kitten. He didn't do any damage, and the following year he ignored it just like the older one does.

I can just see that happening in my mind. One of those it will be funny years later moments.

Years ago now our dog chased our cat right into the tree and knocked the whole thing over. Thankfully it was the day after Christmas tree so I just put everything away.

Always real. We do precut at a local flower stand that gets nice trees.

Usually about 6-7 feet as our ceiling is 8 ft and with the star that is about perfect.

I like a symmetrical tree, not too fat, but definitely full all over.

Our tree was $55 this year.

We have a cat that like to chew the tree and play with it a little, so no glass ornaments in case it topples
