I made a few PS for the Epcot ice cream social for our 10 day August trip. Thought it would be a nice break from the heat. Wondering what to expect. The kids have never eaten at the Garden Grill so they can experience it without the full meal. Give me your thoughts please!

We went to the Ice Cream Social in Sept 02. It was great. We had Chip, Dale, Mickey and Pluto there. The ice cream was good and the cahracter interaction plentiful.

We went in July 2002. I am usually in the minority here, but I felt it was a huge rip off. Again this depends on the ages and number in your party, but I felt that well over $40.00 for ice cream and a few drinks was excessive for a family of four. Our ice cream was pre-plated in a fancy waffle cone glued with chocolate chip cookie on the bottom, the kids was a waffle dish with gummy worms. Both types contained one scoop of vanilla ice cream -the bryers kind with the vanilla bean. Because it was pre-plated the ice cream had an off freezer taste. The waiter seemed very busy with the regular lunch customers and the characters were ok, but not as time giving as they were for the regular lunch customers either. Again I am usually in the minority with this one, but just another perspective. ;)

We just did the ice cream social at the first of April and we enjoyed it. My kids are not big eaters and I couldnt see spending so much for a character breakfeast or dinner (My 13 yr old eats the least and she qualifies as an adult). The ice cream was a nice treat in the afternoon and it was more than any of us could eat (except my husband) and we had only had breakfeast that day. I thought it was a better deal for our family to spend $35 for ice cream (we had water to drink) for our family of 5 than to spend between $85-$100 for us to have a breakfeast or dinner with characters. We also had Mickey, Chip, Dale and Pluto at our table and got lots of great pictures. The ice cream was very good- no freezer taste for us. WE ate as much as we could and still had some left. I would not have ordered my 4 yr old and ice cream if I had been thinking. We would have had more than enough with 4 desserts and letting her eat off of ours. Patsal says there was one scoop of ice cream- we had full size waffle cones- you know how big they are- and ours were filled to the top. Lots of ice cream. I know the kids was a bit smaller, but like I said- neither my 4 yr old or 8 yr old could eat it all. :D

I'm glad everyone else has had better experiences withthe ICS at GG. But I am not kidding when I say a single scoop of vanilla ice cream. I had to buy the kids food down in the food court afterwords! I believe everyone has to order an ice cream, there is "no sharing" just like a buffett where everyone must pay the per person charge. I'd be tempted to try it again and chalk it up to just a bad day, but DH would never let me attempt it again at that price it is too big a risk for me! We only ordered two drinks for the kids and with tax and tip the total was like $45.00.
