I posted this on the community board and thought I'd try here too!

What kind of candy are you giving out for trick or treaters?

Or what kind do trick or treating kids wish you were giving out? :rotfl:

I bought some bubble gum (mixed variety, including sour), and the kid bagging my groceries said "blah", so I bought some Starbursts and Skittles, and my niece said "bleh". :confused3

What are kids looking forward to getting in their treat bags?

Well, I'm looking forward to Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and DH can't wait for the Snickers! :rotfl2: My kids are old enough this year that they may not want to share as they have in the past, so we'll see.

Seriously, my kids love Skittles, m&ms, KitKat and Twix. Don't get me wrong, they will eat whatever candy is available to them, but those are what they would pick when given a chance.

Gummy anything...the messier the better. I like the $20 bills the best though...

I agree. Major candy names like Reese's, Snickers and m & m's are most ceoveted here, although my absolute favorite is Butterfinger's followed second by caramels!!

Forgot to add...please no suckers. I hate to seem ungrateful but the last few years about half our bag is suckers and I hate the kids having them. Talk about the sugar just sitting in your mouth on your teeth, plus it never fails they always get sticky somehow!!

Candy cigarettes, always a parent's favorite. :thumbsup2

No, you'd be the coolest house if you gave out whole candy bars. ;)

We're going a little off the mainstream. We're giving out little pots of play doh.

They were talking about giving that out on Good Morning America.

We are giving out halloween bags of Teddy Grahams - my kids love them and the Goldfish (they already ate the goldfish I was gonna give out :rotfl2: )

Butterfingers and mini recees cups are my favorites

Personally, I HATE all gummy stuff (and it is really bad for teeth too!) Chocolate is the best, but I never give it out because it is the most expensive. I love the things you bought, good old-fashioned pink bubble gum is one of my favorites!! Dd 15 says "jumbo-sized chocolate bars, all the way!!!!" Dark chocolate is her fav. Don't worry, there is no way you can please everyone. I can't even please all four of my kids :) !!

We give out the snack size (one whole cup - not the mini size) Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and often hear kids saying something like, "Oh! They've got the good stuff. I wish we gave this out." ....or something to that effect.

Personally I like those or Snicker's. I too am not fond of the suckers or caramels.

My dd4 was eyeing lolly pops today...but I steered her toward the good stuff! In my childhood, the best candies were always the snack size Snickers, Milky Ways, Three-Muskateers, Reeses Cups, et. This is what we gave out when I was a kid...this is what we give out now.

However, my dh picked up a bag of mini boxes of Whoppers. I bet you only a handful of them make it to the big candy bowl to give out to the trick or treaters! :)

chocolate, chocolate, chocolate and i dont mean tootsie rolls LOL! My ds does enjoy skittles, but he is 4 so... what does he know :thumbsup2 . We always go through DS's trick or treat bag and all of the "junk candy" gets thrown away. I always buy the mini candy bars, snack size bags of chips, and the last couple of years Snoopy halloween gummy snacks and mini bags of cookies.

Chocolate candy bars...even if it's just the "fun" size. I think it's really cheap of people to give out lollipops, tootsie rolls, etc. You should see how much candy ends up in the Teachers' Lounge at school after Halloween. All of us bring in the stuff that our kids don't like...it's always lollipops, Tootsie Rolls, etc. You'll never see any chocolate bars in there because that's what the kids like!

We're giving out the same as always: Hershey's, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, Reeses's pieces, KitKats, Almond Joy. My daughter always throws away the Tootsie Rolls, little Starbursts, Skittles and stuff like that. Little bags of pretzels are a good treat too. This year I also have some of those gift certificates from Wendy's for free Frosty's...I think it's about $1 for 10 of them. I can't wait until all this chocolate is out of the house!

Skittles and Starburst are some of my kids favorites! Chocolate is always a hit too, mini candy bars. Lollipops not so much.

I bought Reese's Cups, Reese's Stix, Whoppers, 100,000 bars and something else to give out, can't remember, maybe Paydays?

Chocolate!! The Laffy Taffy and Jolly Ranchers and Now& Later's are just gross.

Im giving out playdough for the little kids. Skittles. M&M's and hershey bars!

This year we are giving out skittles snickers & mini m&ms.

Last year I gave out snack sized bags of microwave popcorn that were decorated for halloween. I thought it was a good idea, not sure what the neighborhood kids thought though!

A word to the wise on those.... My sil was watching my kids one night and they told her they wanted some, so she put the bag in, and hit the "popcorn" button. Well, you can figure it out right?? (they are smaller and take MUCH less time to cook) My house and microwave smelt like burnt popcorn for 2 weeks!!! popcorn:: :crazy2:
