what kind of bottles are best when travelling?

My baby uses bottles by evenflo at home, but I am going to buy the bottles with the disposable liners for the trip. I plan on getting her used to the new bottle before I go-of course. Assuming she likes it -I thought this would be easier- I would just have to worry about cleaning the nipples.

Any advice about bottles would be appreciated- I've never travelled with a baby before. ::MinnieMo

I've used Playtex nursers for all 3 of my children. For a day in the parks I usually bring 2 bottle holders and a bunch of liners. I usually rinse the nipple out at the baby centers. I also carry a Palmolive dish wipe in a ziploc bag. You can also carry a couple of extra nipples so you don't have to worry about washing them until you get back to your hotel.

When the twins were babies and we did a lot of traveling to see grandparents, etc. I found these great bottles. They were normal bottles but the nipple was attatched to a long straw like tube. You could put the bottle in the carseat besides the baby and put the nipple in their mouth and they could eat in the car (this was before they could hold a bottle). They worked great.

For normal running around I had a divided container that you could pre-measure formula into. I would fill the bottles with water and cap them (I used the playtex with the liner) and when it came time to eat, just added the formula (powdered) to the water.

IMP.. I thinks it best to stick with what your baby knows when traveling. Unless you are going to make the transition at home before your trip and last thing you want to do when being away from your babies home is change one more thing on them.
Bottles are super easy to rinse out in fountains or sinks, older babies don't need to have everything sterlized like newborns.

I think it depends on your child - my DS used the Evenflo type bottles (Nuby nipples) and did just fine switching to Playtex for our trip when he was almost 9 mos, but he's not a picky kid. Trying it first at home is a great idea and that's what we did as well. I have noticed that Take and Toss (the First Years) is now making a bottle - something I would have probably looked at if they were out last year (we're off bottles now, hooray!)

Good Luck!

I would definately make the transition to the playtex bottles a few weeks before your trip to make sure your baby does ok on them. I can tell you the biggest pain was the Dr. Brown bottles. My ds was on them our last trip, I tried weaning him off them and onto our regular Avent bottles before the trip but everytime I did he'd get horrible gas so I decided it was better to have a happy baby and clean all the parts of the bottles.
