What kind of animals are they trying to kill at the fort?

Right behind our site in the 1500 loop was a brown plastic box with a hole in the side, and POISON written on the top. It was padlocked shut. I can't imagine it was squirrels because we saw plenty of those, maybe rats?

I took a photo of the box, if I upload it to shutterfly, can I post it here?

Rats.
They have had them for years, just more noticeable now since they have been re-doing the landscaping and I think they have been putting a few more out also.

Hopefully Rizzo won't get cought in one.

They are rats - but not the nasty big sewer-type rats that are dirty. These are little rats -- in Florida they're called Palm Rats (or sometimes "tree rats"). They resemble a black gerbil. They are actually cute -- but they can be a nuisance because they chew on things (wires, etc.)

Those rats traps with the holes in the sides are all over Florida - in towns, yards, everywhere.

I do wildlife relocation for a living and those little black boxes are called bait stations. The have a poison product in them that will dispatch the animal. I am not fond of them but I had the same conversation with my wife at the Fort last weekend as we watched our neighbor cleaning up after breakfast by dumping all the leftover food into the woods. I explained that rats can have over 1millon decedents from one pair in a year when conditions are right and given 788 camp sights and 488 cabins that's a Lotta food for a lot of rats if even half the people there throw some food on the ground!
