Since this will be our first WDW trip, my husband and I want to get our DD4 something special. She should be able to remember this trip, so we want to get her something that she will keep forever to help her remember this special family occasion. She loves Tinkerbell and Cinderella. We're thinking maybe a snow globe. I know there are so many choices, but what are some things you all have bought/received that are still special and bring back the memories of your magical time at WDW? I also need ideas for my husband--he's not really into Disney stuff (can you imagine!?!?! :sad2: ).

How about a special picture frame with your favorite picture from the trip. Special and personal.

I love the idea of a snowglobe. There are so many beautiful ones.

Nine years ago, my son's BF 13yr and his sister 11yr fell off a cliff that they were climbing. The boy died and the girl ended up in a coma in ICU. She loved Winnie the Pooh. I sent for a snowglobe from the Disney store and when it came, I took it right up to her. The next day, when they started the music, she opened her eyes.

OK, that just gave me chills and I'm trying not to cry...that was truly a God moment with pixie dust! I know I will think of that everytime I see a snowglobe.

I wrote my little girl a diary. She was too young to remember but i wanted everything to be written down for her.

Snowglobe is a lovely idea. May think of that for our kids.

Hmmmm ... of course for me there are many special items but I tried to think of what a 4 year old might enjoy too. The snowglobe is a good idea ... but I got this Beauty and the Beast light up castle. About the size of a large snowglobe, it has Beauty and the Beast (and others) in front of an icy looking castle. It has an on/off switch and softly glows. Nice in the evening. (About 7 inches wide and the tallest part of the castle is about 11 inches high) -- it would need to sit on a chest of drawers or something like that --

I don't have one but a night light would be nice too.

(One of my fav items is my little mickey mouse dangly earrings but not something for a four year old!)

DH - I can't help with that one. Mine sounds like your DH! He only treasures the memory of the wonderful meals we had at KONA Cafe! :teeth:

I have started my DD now 7 with a charm bracelet and while it is too big for her now she loves to hear the stories about each charm and why I bought them. You could also have her pick a pearl in Japan and have that made into something. As for DH ,maybe the picture frame as another poster said or a coffee mug or Christmas ornament. If he is a collector a shot glass or golf ball. Sometimes the right item just hits you when walk in a shop.

For me it is the picture of us in front of the castle and the dated Christmas ornaments

DD loves the snow globes, but she's not allowed to play with them so it frustrates her. We usually get her a doll (she's gotten Jesse and Tinkerbell). She can play with it to her heart's content.

The other thing she loves is to have her very own photo book. We are going to check out shutterfly's bound photo books, but we've just given her a cheap disney one in the past...sure she rips it up, but who cares!

How about letting her pick an oyster in Japan and getting it mounted for her. You could keep it until she is a little bigger if needed but that is something she could have for ever. And it might start a tradition - necklace this time, earrings one time, ring the next etc.

We collect Snowglobes for DD as well ( see TINK ROOM in my SIG ) .

But remember if you are flying you can no longer take as carry-on . I recomend you have them ship it home for you so you have a surprise waiting when you return. The shipping evens out almost with the taxes that you don't have to pay when shipping out of FL.

I can not take credit for this idea, but my cousin is great at doing scrapbooks. I would take some pics and maybe an autograph book and when you get home put them together. Not only will you DD love to look at them but it will be a great for everyone to look at in years to come.

I'm not sure what to get your dd, but for you, I would get one of these picture frames and put a picture of dd in front of the castle in it. The only one I could find was on ebay, but they sell them in the shops on Mainstreet USA.

I bought one on our last trip and just tugs at my heart everytime I look at it.

I try to buy unique picture frames on all of our vacations. I figure that is something that I will keep forever, and it isn't 'junk' suvieneers or anything.

We brought our DS to WDW for the first time last December. My favorite things are two pictures that the disney photographers took....one is the first time DS met Mickey. His back is to us, hugging Mickey mouse. He looks so tiny in Mickey's arms (he was only 2.5 at the time). The other picture is one of him giving Minnie a kiss on the nose. I framed them and found a cute sticker at the scrapbook store in downtown disney that had the year on it. I love it. I also made a huge scrapbook from the trip.

Maybe wait until you get there and see if you DD has a favorite thing, ride, character encounter, etc, and then get something to remember that.

I love the charm bracelet idea. We are big picture lovers so we have several Disney frames and a collage with our fave pictures in them. I also have a snowglobe collection my DD started for me. I love the globes but hate to dust them! A Disney watch is a nice idea too. Something that lasts for a long time to come.

- I bought a snowglobe on our first trip, and it had the year inside the globe. It's a great memory. I had it shipped home so I didn't have to pack it. It took about 2-3 weeks to arrive.
- I too collect charms for my daughter, and we've bought several to add to her bracelet to commemorate our trips.
- Photos and frames can't be beat ... along with scrapbooks! On our first trip, we got the Birnbaum WDW book for kids, and my DD9 filled in the blanks, and then used it as her autograph book. It's a great keepsake.
- There is a crystal shop on Main Street in MK. My mother bought my daughter a heart-shaped crystal box with Mickey on top that is very special.
Have fun!!

The Disney photographers can take your picture in front of the castle, and I've seen where they have the person hold their hands in a cupped position, and then they superimpose Tinkerbell into their cupped hands. If your daughter is a Tink fan, this might be a fun photo to get for her in a cool frame.

When I went with my parents when I was 14 I fell in love with a small music box that had a picture of Cinderella and Prince Charming dancing on the top. When you opened it played "So This Is Love". My parents suprised me and bought it and I still have it. It just reminds me of that trip and I love it!

Allyson :)

For me it's my charm bracelet. I get a new charm each time we go. I have one completed charm bracelet from when I was young, and I can tell you who gave me each one, or where I bought it. Never gets outdated!
