What Just Happened?!?!?

I haven't been on the Disboards for days. I kept getting the message that the site was being updated...I notice a few subtle changes. Why did they shut it down for so long? Was there any prior notification?

I didn't see the thread about the upgrades either (until now), but figured the upgrades were certainly to make things better...but I DID have my withdrawls!!...especially being on the computer the past few days more than normal!!

There were notices posted on all the forums, so we were notified. Didn't make the 48 hours any easier, though.

What happened was a replacement of the bulliten board system.

Think of it in terms of a car - the DIS Boards had its engine completely removed and replaced by a brand-new engine of the same size that has some new features, but the seats, sterring wheel, shifter column, etc. are still the same. We should have some new buttons on the dash, however, that lead to the new features.

But the boards should drive a little nicer once we get used to the new features. I don't yet know what new features we will get, but I hope they will be useful and not take up too much server time.

I am 100% lurker! Earlier this evening I got the message for the upgrade and had a little angziety. I am on (the boards) more this week than others (holiday). I am glad the board is up and running!!!!
