that is just SO wrong.

i absolutely agree with that...the bag checks are necessary, don't take that long and definitely make me feel a whole lot safer than if people skip through them. the thing that i don't understand is how the security people don't notice that people's pockets are bulging with stuff...

gshoemate: right on about the backpacks....I had completely forgotten about that one. I understand that some people need to bring lots of stuff to the parks, but, please as ginger noted: be careful when turning; those things are dangerous....I couldn't tell you how many times dd, dw, or myself got wacked with one of those the last couple of trips.

I know smoking out of designated areas is DH's biggest peeve. And that is coming form an ex-smoker. In the slow months it isn't as bad, as you canmove out of their way. (Although it should be the other way around as they are smoking wherever they please.)

Mine, unattended children. Kids will be kids. It's not the kids that look bad. It is the parents. I swear kids often have more common sense than their parents.
And in this day and age no one should just drop off and leave a kid at a store/ride/attraction/restaurant unattended. When they do a CM should escort the children to a safe place and let the parents sweat it out on their missing kids.

Guess another is parents allowing their kids to run their fingers in and on the buffet food! :scared1:
Main reason why we avoid buffets, or go right after they open. ;)
Nothing like seeing a little tyke remove his fingers from his mouth and dip them in a bowl of food! :earseek: Or lick/sample something and put it back!

EWWWWWWWW GROSSS Man!!!!!!!!

My pet peeve is able bodied people using the wheelchair stall in the washrooms. 10-15 empty stalls and they need to use the only stall available for wheelchairs. Now before I get trampled on I realize there are hidden handicaps. People with crohns disease, arthritis, balance problems, etc. I'm not refering to those people. I'm refering to little children using the stalls alone. I've also seen teenagers running ahead so they can have the larger stall. I've has to wait 10 minutes while "ladies" put on their makeup and primped. If I could use the other stall I would have, but I was restricted to only one stall that the wc would fit into. We all like the extra room, and I am comfortable with a mother keeping her chuildren together in a larger stall, but I really get irked when people who are not disabled come out, after making me wait and then say "sorry". Yah, right.

Maybe all the other stalls were in use when the person got there. If I enter a restroom and the only stall that's empty is a handicap one and there isn't anyone waiting to use it, I'll go in. If there's a disabled person waiting when I come out, I'll tell them sorry and mean it.

I don't understand why this is a problem.

First, let me say, I totally agree with this - I would never let my child go anywhere in WDW unattended, but I noticed on our last trip signs stating "All children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult." Our DD is 6, and I asked my DH, "Can you imagine us letting her come stand in this line by herself next year?" That's just amazing to me.

I see your point but I believe the HC stalls are not like the parking places, they are for everyone, by law they just *have* to have one that handicapped *can * use ( at least that is the way it is where I live and I think that is federal although I can be and frequently am wrong!)...usually I use the HC stall ( I have some muscle problems and sometimes the seats are higher and the bars help me get up:) or i could be sitting there all day (lol) but I do understand the problem if other stalls are empty and pople use the HC for no reason. I have seen Moms with kids go which i personally think is a good idea cause sometimes especially if the hc stalls were added afterwards, the other stalls are really small, like your knees barely will fit, no room for a kid for sure .today if I had small kids I'd want them in there with me for safety. I do understand that means someone in a chair has to wait but so does everyone else and some people that are not in a chair have continence problems but have to wait anyway. of course unfortunately that might mean a longer wait than normal so I see both sides, just giving another side to the story

evidently I am not coming across the way I think i am since I am pretty much getting arguments/ upset comments everytime I post lately( i even reread it a number of times, mainly cause my spelling and typing stink) cause I was agreeing with you and yes I did read the whole post before:confused:

Say, Talking Hands, I just noticed the picture posted with your name. I love you too. A few years ago I cut the end of my finger off, and it made me sign with an accent. LOL.

Talking & Jann.....I have seen you both around and I know that both of you are great! So don't worry about getting anyone upset, I think were all mature enough to happily understand each's points. Isn't life great when we do this!

As for HC stalls, I think that they are great for mommy's with small children as well, BUT people really need to check to make sure no HC person is waiting for it, I know I sure will the next time my girls and I use it. Thanks for bringing up something that might be overlooked in the craziness of hurrying to get back to the Disney Magic!!

Oh..oh..oh., since we are in the bathrooms, I THOUGHT OF ANOTHER PET PEEVE!! The water faucets that can ONLY RUN when your hand is underneath it. I know why they do this, but when you are trying to wash a squirmy child face and hands, I would like the water to run!!

I am , by the looks of me, able bodied. However, I am extremely claustrophobic and always use wheelchair stalls because in the smaller stalls, I get massive attacks of claustrophobia and sometimes it's so bad I pass out.

Please don't judge people just because they "look" ok. Some people have problems you can't see just by looking at them. For some of us, it's not just appreciating the extra room, that extra room is absolutely nessacary.

Likewise, I have gotten dirty looks from people on busses and subway cars before, for not standing up to let them sit. Well, 8 years ago, I was hit by a car and my knees are really, really bad, and I can't stand up on a moving vehicle for more than a few minutes. I just don't have the balance or stregnth.

Please don't take my post as an attack.

However, I'm one of those people who look able-bodied. Without talking to me, examining me, or being with me for at least an hour, no one will ever know that I'm actually (legally) disabled.

I've posted somewhere in the DIS that I can run, walk, even jump... but not for too long. All because of the subluxation of my lower back region, pinched nerve and tendonitis of the ankle.

Now, even my parents originally thought I was only looking for attention when I told them that I have these ailments.

How should anybody at, say WDW, know that I'm legally disabled?

This is so true. My nephew, who is one a year old right now has cystic fibrosis. You would never ever know it by looking at him. He looks so healthy because he was diagnosed so early & started treatments so early.

It it very harmful for him to be around smoke but unless he wore some kind of sign saying so no one would ever know this. This is one reason I totally agree with & wish everyone would use the "designated smoking areas". You may not know it, but you could be causing irreversible damage to someone's lungs.

Of course, I know there are some people who could care less - I know people like that that have been to my house when he is here - outdoors of course, because we don't allow smoking in our home - but they will still light up even if they are next to him, either not caring or oblivious to the fact that the person holding my nephew will immediately leave with him!!!

Okay - I've don't my venting now!

And someone mentioned that teens should not be using these restrooms. Well, when I was a teen, I was still claustrophobic. Unseen ailments do not only afflcits adults.

And you took 10 -15 minutes to use the stall and grabbed it when you knew there was a person who needed because they were confined to a wheelchair. PLease read fully before you comment because obviously you have not.
We never said that there aren't people with invisible problems, what we are complaining about is abuse and outright rudeness to those of us who have no choice but one stall in the entire bathroom. And some of the bathrooms are not even that good. The one by Town Hall in MK is so small that I cannot pull my wheelchair into it and close the door myself.

I'm not sure if you were addressing me, or another poster, but I have a question for you.

If someone has a not so obvious need to use one of these stalls, and they are there in line before you, why do you have more right than them just because your need for the wheelchair stall is more visible?

We all have wait in line for the bathroom, whether we require a wheelchair stall or not.

So if I (or another claustrophobic person) is before you in line, and I wait for the wheelchair stall to have the space I require to not have a panic attack, yet you can't tell why I am grabbing that stall ahead of you, you are saying I am being rude and abusing you?

You also seem to assume all young , teen girls who use the wheelchair stall do it to abuse you, yet do you ever ask them why they took that stall?

And if a person needs 10-15 minutes in a bathroom, then they should be able to take it. I can't think of many occasions when I'd ever need that long, but people do get sick, and if a claustrophobic person needs the HC stall, then they have just as much right as a person in a wheelchair to use it for as long as they require.

Hey everybody, remember

This IS a pet peeve thread! Don't attack people for having a pet peeve, that is what we are discussing.

Anyone that hasn't seen people using the handicapped stalls "just because" aren't looking. These are the same people that park in the handicapped parking spots and get mad when they get a ticket.

If you NEED to use the handicapped stall because of a physical or mental handicap, then do so without feeling like people are disrespecting you. I have used it on occasion when I have had trouble with my knees and needed the extra room, but noone would know by just looking while I am waiting. If they give me a hard time, it is no skin off my nose.

The pet peeve is when people are being rude and discourteous, and it especially effects people in wheelchairs. I, for one, hit the restroom before I "have to". That way I can bypass it and hit another one if there are lines, or it is disgusting.

just 2 more cents from me, and worth even less ;)
