I agree with most of the Pet Peeve's here, except for the Cell Phone part. I have mine on Vibrate/Ring and most of the time I cannot receive calls, especially in some of the rides.:o So, I have to call my DH later, after the ride.;) Some families split up, and the kids have thier phone, to call the parents to let them know everything is OK, or where to meet.

Poohbear - good point. I never thought of the cell phone with kids, but our DD's are getting older and I'm sure this situation will come up where they will take one of our phones with them into the parks.

I think I would tell them to leave it on vibrate though & not to answer if they are on a ride or in a show, but to call us back when they would get a chance. Of course - I would probably be frantic if they didn't answer!

Ooooooooooooh...I thought of another one...(probably already posted, but I found this MOST annoying)...people who did not clean off their tables in the counter service restaurants. UNBELIEVEABLE...

In Mexico, there were 5 kids...late teens, maybe 20...left all their empty cups, trash, napkins...you name it. Stuff scattered on the ground as well...not one stopped to pick a thing up.

This was outside of the park, but during our stay at HIFS, breakfast (which, by the way is FREE)...I would say 25% of people left their entire tray there ...trash and all. It would not have bothered me if they left some money on the table for the employees that would obviously have to pick it all up, but nope...never saw it.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!

Ok this is completely off topic so I apologize. Just a little interuption but Melsmice could you tell me how to get a picture on here like you have your tinkerbell.

Um pet peeve. Well I can't stand it when the stand by time says like 60 min. and it ends up being 80

In general when you want to do somethign special in your posts you use the square brackets "[" and "]". To turn something on say Bold for instance you type "[" "B" "]" all together with no spaces or quotes then type what you want then type "[" "/" "B" "]".

Where this comes in to play with pictures is the IMG command. If I want to display a picture that I have available online, say of my daughter, I would type "["img"]"http://haysllc.com/cppa/michaela1.jpg"["/img"]" without the quote marks and her picture shows up like this
michaela1.jpg

I think you can do that with your signature lines too.

The picture on the left under the username is called an avatar. Go to the top of this page, select "User CP" then when you are in your profile slect "Edit Options", finally select "Avatar. You will be presented with stock options, a place to specify a picture you have online, or a place to upload a picture.

Do EVERYONE a favor, don't try to use one that is too big. It messes up the posts for everyone. I try to stay within 70 pixels by 70 pixels.

Looks like ChairborneRanger explained it good & it's a good thing he/she did because I couldn't remember how I did it!! :o I was going to send you to the Technical Board!! :D

Here are his instructions again:

Alright thanks very much chairborne because I really wanted to be official with a cool picture. [Are there any good sites for these size disney pictures]

People on boards such as this that "advise" (insist) to first timers that if they don't stay "on-site" they will miss the "true" magic of Disney and basically might as well stay home.. That drives me absolutely nuts!!!!

The use of cell phones during shows, presentations.. If you absolutely MUST make/receive a call, please go off to a more private area to do so..

Parents who are more concerned with being able to say, "We don't use strollers" - than the welfare of their children.. Can't tell you how many little ones I saw dragging themselves along in the heat and humidity, who were literally crying "Mommy/Daddy, I'm tired.." - only to be chastised with, "You're not a baby.. Only babies need strollers!"

People who shove their kids in front of others while in the Meet and Greet character lines..

People who try to push their way in front of you for the parades at the last possible moment..

People who complain about smokers who are IN the designated smoking areas..

Drunk visitors - and those who use foul language in front of little children..

People screaming at - and hitting their kids.. If your child is having a melt-down, take them off to the side somewhere and speak to them about it..

The dirty restrooms and overflowing garbage cans...

I, for one, have never noticed a problem with strollers. You're right. Kids should be in strollers, for their own safety. I can't imagine having a 3 year old walking around not in a stroller.

Speaking of strollers (and we were!!!) I wish people would PLEASE realize that just because they see a "larger" child in a stroller, doesn't mean he's lazy or "babied". Several times during our last trip in April we got comments from other visitors like "don't you think he's a little BIG for a stroller???" DS is 7. I know these weren't DISers. They COULDN'T have been--DISers are usually SO understanding of others' challenges. If we get to go in two weeks liked planned, DS7 (and 80 pounds) will probably be in a Disney stroller b/c he gets SO tired. He's still recovering from surgery and hasn't built up his stamina yet. So I'm not baby-ing him--he'd love to be able to walk and run for extended periods of time. But it's not going to happen for awhile! I thank God that he is just healthy enough to go!

My pet peeve are people who go to WDW but complain about kids being kids. Go to the Bahamas!

Good for you! It's no ones business why you choose to use a stroller - and you're right - thank God he's even healthy enough to go...

Know what really galls me about this stroller issue though? 99% of these "adults" that refuse to allow their children to ride in strollers are the very same adults that ride everywhere!!
If their office is a couple of miles away, they ride in their cars.. If the store is 25 blocks away, they ride to the store.. If they're in an office building or department store, they ride the elevator or escalator..

But it's perfectly okay for a little kid to walk miles and miles, hours on end, day after day, in horrendous heat and humidity.. :(

All right, we touched on children running around making noise in the hotel/condo, but what about the group of drunks that stumble in at 2:30 in the a.m. My kids are in bed by 8:30, and I understand some noise until 10:00 or 11:00 but enough is enough!

Being new at life in an ECV, I have to say that people who step in front of me or stop suddenly make me crazy! I cannot stop that thing on a dime. Once someone slammed into me and sent me going at which point I then ran over my fanny pack destroying several things including my watch. Then he gave me a dirty look.

And finally, the folks that talk all the way through the ride...listing every movie on the Movie ride...I've gone braindead and can't think of the name!

But isn't it a totally awesome place!::yes::

Grownups hitting children. I see it every time we go and
it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I want to
walk over and hit them. DH has to grab my arm and move me
away. Why are they there?!

This isn't just at WDW, but here at home. My pet peeve is on buses when teenagers are sitting with their back against the wall of the bus, AND HAVE THEIR FEET UP ON THE SEAT BESIDE THEM!!! Not only is that rude, because maybe someone else would like to sit down, but I personally don't want to have to sit where someone's dirty shoes have been, have some courtesy and sit normally!! I am tall myself, and I know some of the seating can be cramped for people with long legs, but I usually get an aisle seat and try to maneuver myself so I am somewhat comfortable.

My biggest peave this year was when you were in a line to get your hand stamped to re enter the park and others would walk past the line and push their hand in front of you to get stamped. Someone did this to me at MGM and actually managed to hit me in the nose in the process. Plus they didn't even say sorry!

Did the cast member actually stamp their hands? They should refuse.

I'm sure some of these have been mentioned before but here is my list.

People who cut in front of my stroller, get hit in the ankles then turn around and give me a dirty look for hitting them.

People who feel the need to talk in detail about "the characters". If your going to do this, wait until your back in your room so you don't ruin the magic for those around you, especially children.

If your at WDW during the Christmas holiday and it is "snowing" in the park. Please don't talk about how the snow is made or how it is snowing. There are young children who truelly believe that it is snowing. I had a family go on and on about it the other night right near my children. Then they started talking about santa coming to their house and I really had to bite my tongue not to tell the truth about santa....i was so mad.

This one seems a little silly but here goes...while parking, please leave a little room between you and the car in front of you. Alot of people have strollers to put away and unless you want your car scratched.....leave a little space.

If you have a backpack on, please be careful of turning suddenly, you will hit people with your backpack. While waiting for FOLK at AK a guy hit me so hard with his backpack that i lost my balance a bit. Then like 5 minutes later he leaned down and said in my ear "when you pushed me a few minutes ago I almost dropped my baby" I was not happy. I told him he was the one that hit me then he said "now your teaching your daughter to lie". He's lucky both of my kids were there because it would of gotten ugly. I told him if he payed attention to what he was doing and where his backpack was, he wouldn't of had a problem. The rest of the wait for the show was a bit tense.

O.K., I think thats it for now (and these are things that have happened just in the past week, i'm sure if i kept a list I could write a whole book)

People smoking in non-designated areas

My DH has asthma that is triggered by cigarette smoke. Naturally, we avoid smoking areas, but when someone ignores the rules and smokes where they want, it's a real problem. The only time he has had to use his inhaler in the past three years was at WDW because so many people were smoking where they shouldn't be.

People who try and stuff their belongings in their pockets or shirts to avoid waiting in the bag check line.

that is just SO wrong.
