What is YOUR Pet Peeve When Traveling @ WDW??

No EsmereldaX. I don't ask them because they rarely use my language. You see I am also hearing impaired and use ASL unless I am really face to face with a person or have my aids in and turned way up which I don't do at Disney. I really don't have interpreters accompany to the bathroom.

I have nicely talked to a little girl coming out of the hc stall, explaining to her that the wc symbol on the door indicated that this stall was for wc. Her mother pounced on me with such vulgarity, saying "You want to be equal- now you'r equal." Hey, if this is equal, then there would have been 15-20 handicap stalls. Another time, a lady was hogging the stall, when she knew I need it, because she liked having her own private sink to use when she put on her makeup. I'm sure she wished I would go away, but I couldn't. I needed that stall. I waited a good 15 minutes, watching her through the crack as she took her jolly sweet time. Now, I know that I, as well as most of you I'm sure would exit as quickly as we could if we knew there was someone waiting for the only stall they could use. That's plain courtesy. And of course, we are not talking about hidden handicaps here, or parents with small children, or even using the stall when there are no other stalls available. All we ask for is some consideration, maybe a little kindness, and certainly some empathy.

I hope this doesn't come across as rude then, but if that is the case, then you can't accuse them of just being rude. You never know what is going on in their life.

Well the lady putting makeup on had no business doing that, but honestly, if the little girl was quick, and ahead of you in line, I'm sorry but if that was the only avaible stall, then I don't see what the problem is.

please don't flame me but like I said and want to clarify HC stalls are not like parking spaces...it is illegal to park in a Hc space if you are not handicapped it is not the same with the stalls..they are mandated but not illegal to use if you are not handicapped so no one should assume they get the only dibs on them. maybe it is *polite* to let someone with a visible handicap use them first ,just like it is *polite* to let a mom with a little kid ready to wet themselves go first but it isn't illegal not to and really maybe the person using them ...even if they are not handicapped... needs to use it at that moment worse than the visibly handicapped one waiting. at worst you are waiting for a few moments more and what difference does it really make if the person in there is handicapped or not, you'd still have to wait if it *was* a handicapped person in there.

maybe the solution would be more handicapped bathrooms but truthfully I can count how many times you see a handicapped person (visibly) using them so I would guess there is a greater amount of handicapped stalls vs regular stalls in relation to handicapped vs not handicapped people ( park wide I mean)

it is obviously a need but lets not get crazy about this

Dirty bathrooms. Increasing more and more.

Closed food vendors, whether kiosks or counter service. Enough already. AK is the worst for this.

I noticed a lot more dirty washrooms on our last trip then ever before.

The closed vendors drives my DH crazy!!! They only pay people $6/hr. Is it really saving that much money?

I can understand some of the larger counter service restaurants but little carts that only require one or 2 people.

I'd like to put in another vote for the closed vendors. this drives me crazy:crazy: it seems like AK is the worst for this to me.....the 3 sodas we were going to buy would have paid the salary for an hour to have the stand open!!

Not to beat a dead horse, but I think as far as the HC bathroom stall goes...............I don't think it is right for an able bodied person to use it if there is a HC person that needs it.

This being said, if I am waiting in line with my DD's & that is the only available stall I always check to make sure there is no one in line behind us that needs it. If there isn't, I let them use it, but I tell them to do it quickly.

Unfortunately, not all handicaps are visible, so unless you see someone in a wheelchair, with a medical assistance device or if they spoke up & mentioned that was the only stall they could use, most people would not know that someone needed it. It is rude for people to just use it when they can see that someone else can ONLY use that stall.

I know that cost would be a major issue, however, considering the fact that HC people can use only one kind of stall but able bodied people can use both kinds of stalls, the problem would be solved if all establishments were required to make all bathroom stalls HC accessible!

It hardly seems right that a HC person should only have one option of a stall to use. I know someone mentioned they "could count the number of times they saw a HC person using a HC stall" but I just don't think it's noticed. Who is really checking to see whose in the HC bathroom stall if you aren't the one that needs it?

My family is very fortunate in the fact that we don't need to use the HC stall, but you never know where life is going to lead you, so I hope one day that I won't require the use of it & if I do, I certainly I would hope I would have more than 1 to choose from.

Just my $.02!!:teeth:

I know that it really doesn't seem like an important issue to you, but when you are at risk of wetting or soiling yourself because you don't feel the need to go until the very last minute it becomes very important.
I try to go at regular intervals but it isn't always possible. It is not pleasant to have to leave the parks because you have soiled yourself and I will not do as one handicapped lady I saw who ended up sitting in it most of the day.
And as to never seeing a handicapped person needing one. Obviously you are not at WDW often because I see plenty of other handicapped people there when visiting almost monthly

All this talk about bathroom stalls reminded me of my pet peeve. Toilet seats with pee on them! Stupid ladies hover over the seat to pee because they don't want to come into contact with dirty seats and they're the ones that make them nasty! ARGH!! I hate that! If you have to hover and spray then wipe it off!!!
Phew... I feel better :sunny:

I hate to hear people use foul language in any public place and I hate anything and everthing to do with ciggarettes.
I hate it when somebody stops and points and I hate it when strollers bite me on the ankles. I hate to see make out sessions when I am waiting in line behind people. thats probably the worse. get a room for goodness sakes!

There are a few things that bother me while going to WDW.

1. Parents who continue to complain about everything to get their own way: example; my dh and I went to WDW for our honeymoon and we were at AK at Donald's Breakfesaurs. Before we could eat there, we had to wait about 15-20 minutes and the hostess warned us before hand that it would take about an hour to meet all the characters, as we sat down to our table, a family next to us (two twin girls around the age of nine, a mother, and a father). The father continued to complain the entire time how they waited for about an hour to meet all the characters (which was a bunch of bull because we sat next to them for another half hour and he still claimed that they have been waiting for an hour to meet all the characters. When Mickey was starting to come our way, Mickey needed a three minute water break, and the father threw a fit to a CM about how they have been waiting for a long time (which they weren't), and the CM and Mickey had to to do their thing at their table and others before his break. When Mickey came to our table, we told Mickey that he could have his break and we could wait for our turn, but he just let us take our picture and go to another table--finally he was able to go on break. It just bothers me that you would complain so much over nothing. I just don't understand; he was warned before hand that meeting the characters would take an hour. And why complain so much--you're at the happiest place on earth! You pay so much money to have a vacation...why not enjoy it?

2. People who cut in line or simply get in your way: I didn't run into much line cutters at all during our trip, so that was pleasant. Though, when we were trying to get to our destination, people would either just stand right in front of us, or just simply just purposely be in the way. Example; my dh was getting us icecream for the night-time parade. The icecream was melting all over his hands, and this guy in a stroller kept on blocking his way and tell him, "Oh, am I blocking your way? Am I blocking your way?" The guy kept on doing this for about a minute. My dh finally told him that if he kept on being in his way, than icecream would be all over him! The guy got the point. What also annoys me is when kids either cannot keep up the pace with the parents or they are running out of control. Either hold on your kids' hand, hold them up, or put them in the stroller. Plus, standing right in front of the walk way, while people are trying to go through. If my dh and I are trying to figure out where we should go next, we stay away from the walk area, and stay on the side so people can go through.

3. People who try to butt in at our space at the parade: This is one thing that bothers me. While waiting for a great spot for the parade for an hour, and people expect you to move over so their kids can have a spot at last minute right when the parade is starting. I feel bad if they have kids, but if they want good spots they should wait like everyone else. They didn't try to give my dh and I some slack about not having kids guilt trip...we were on our honeymoon.

4. People talking during a show: This annoys me. Kids, I try not not to get annoyed with when they talk during a show, but I get annoyed with the parents who doesn't know how to disopline their kids.

I guess that's all I can think of for now.

After a few days at Disney with my sister who is a social worker she almost lost it. She decided she could start a practice in any park and have more clients than she could deal with. The child/parental behavior can get to be too much. I have 2 boys neither of whom have halos but some of the things we witnessed were terrible.

About the naked children in the fountains - I get the chills every time I see something like that after being told that those are the kids that perverts go for and it's almost guaranteed that one is watching from somewhere. Maybe an exageration but do you want to take the chance with your child??

Men's Rooms are no better!

I don't know what tree in what jungle these idiots fall out of, but raise the seat for crying out loud! How about using the urinal instead of marking the stool like a stray dog at a fire hydrant!?! And, if you are an epileptic SIT DOWN... sheesh

It is amazing to me that there is such a lack of potty training with the men in this country. How do we expect our kids to be courteous in the restroom if their adult "role models" pee on the floor, the seats, etc.

Anyone else think men's rooms are disgusting in general?

My husband used to refuse to take the boys to the restroom when they were smaller because of that exact reason. He said the woman's room HAD to be cleaner than the mens.

Women can be SOOO nasty... Honestly, pee might be the best thing you can hope to find. Without being too graphic I'm sure all the other ladies understand about the other seriously disgusting suprises that can be found in those stalls. It makes you shudder to think about what some people's homes must be like.

between people running over my heels with their strollers and folks being loud and cussing. It's Disney for goodness sake...keep it clean.

PamNC

P.S. A close second is people smoking in non-designated areas.

another bathroom pet peeve is if they don't care what they "leave" behind they probably don't care what is on their *hands* that are touching the same place you could put *your * hand ! it really makes me cringe how many people just stroll right out of the rest room, 1/2 the time on the way to eat, with out bothering to wash their hands:eek:
