what is your opinon on character meals.. are they worth the $?

I think character meals are more than worth the money. My DD4 just loves them. I think she enjoys them more than the parks. In fact, we are taking a quick trip in August and aren't even going to any parks. We're doing a character meal each day though.

I dont like the idea of leaving the park, or at least the monorail line if In in MK, or EPCOT, for anything until Its time to go back to our hotel for the night.

In addition to that, everything is overpriced in theme parks, at least the ones Ive been to (USF, WDW, and SW). So your choice is, you could pay probably more than $10 for a counter service meal, once you include a coke and a dessert. (for an older child, or an adult)

For $25 (unless price has gone up), you get all you can eat, and a decent variety (esp at a buffet). I esp. remember the desserts at Chef Mickey's. If your budget is exceptionally tight, you may want to do your character meal in the AM for breakfast. (may still be under $20)

I think that once a day, to be able to relax in a comfortable A/C environment, surrounded by good food, and entertainment (I enjoy watching the characters interact with others as well as my fam) Is totally worth it

I think they are very much worth the money. Not only do you get a decent amount and variety of some pretty good food, but you get the characters that come to you. And more than once if you are there long enough. It beats having to hunt them down, wait in line and maybe have them leave for their break before you get to them.

Chef Mickeys is a tradition in my family. Not so much for the kids (well them too) but for dh who loves the buffet and the food
