We went June 9-15th. That is the first time we went in the summer, and to be honest, I think we would go next time at a different part of the year. We had fun, the parks were open late, but it was HOT!!! The parks also began to get crowded by the 12th or so. We also had Alberto moving through, so it rained for a day and a half. I want to plan another trip next year, but am thinking of taking the kids out of school for a day or two around their fall break and going at the end of October. :sunny:

If I had my druthers, I would go every year at the end of Nov, beginning of Dec..but, now that dd is hitting middle school, that just isn't an option for her. So, we are going back to going in mid/late August. We've been there with a hurricane, so now that doesn't bother us. It is hot/humid/steamy, but after 11 trips to WDW, we can just relax and not rush around.
Now, if you'll notice...I said Nov/Dec wasn't an option for my dd...didn't say anything about me!!! I try to do a solo trip, meeting up with other DIS buddies in early Dec.

We just got back on Sat (7/1) and I can honestly say that I will never go in the summer again. The heat didn't bother us, but we're used to much lower crowds. Even doing EMH at night didn't help-there were still wait times over an hour. When we went during Christmas in 2004, it wasn't nearly as busy as it was during the last 2 weeks. We spent 10 days in the parks and didn't do nearly as much as we normally do.

The most miserable trip I ever had was during New Year's Eve in 1986. It was freezing cold, rainy and a miserable mob of a crowd. I've never seen Disney so crowded before in my life. We normally go in the summer and I absolutely love it. The crowds are much more managable during the summer with longer hours and there are plenty of ways to cool off.

DW and I are both teachers :teacher: in different districts, so summer is our only option. BUT...that's only been for the last 5 years. Prior to that, it was by choice.

Summer heat is unbearable for some, but the great thing about Florida in the summer is pools and AC. :sunny: We choose summer because we know it will be hot, beautiful, and the pools will feel great at the end of the day.

Before I was teaching, we had gone in the fall, winter, and in April and May. When going to Disney, I expect to wear shorts and a t-shirt to the parks. At all times of the year, we had to wear long pants and even jackets. Disney just isn't the same with cool (or cold) weather.

Besides, if you follow the advice of people here on these boards, you hardly notice the crowds. One 4th of July, we saw more in the first two hours of the day than on any other visit. The MK opened early and many people avoided the "morning rush." DD practically had Fantasyland to herself. Last year, we visited 22 attractions by 4 pm (in late June) and had plenty of time to revisit the favorites. pirate: It's not about the crowds in the summer, its all about knowing what they're going to do and scheduling around that.

Almost every time I've been to WDW has been in the summer. I have also been during spring break and early January.

The summer is extremely hot and humid. That's about all I can say for sure.

I haven't been since they opened fastpass, so I'm sure the wait times are down some (since they were down during my last spring break trip compared to other spring break trips).

We're headed town in 19 days. we don't have any choice but to go during the summer because Nikkie is a teacher. Sur,e it's hot and crowded, but you learn to deal with it. :)

My dh and I are both teachers, so that's what works best for us. We were there around Christmas with our highschool band, but that trip was very rushed. We would love to go there at that time again and to go to MVMCP. :santa: :santa: :santa:

We prefer spring or fall weather & crowds. But if there is a good deal, we will brave the heat & crowds. :cool1:

I go whenever I can get there. I do not care about the weather. I am Disney Crazy :cool1: :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

"I'm so excited, I just can't hide it, I am about to lose control and I think I like it" :dance3: :yay: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :hourglass counting the day. 5 more :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce:

It's NOT DW I don't like in summer, it's FLORIDA I don't like in summer! :teeth: it's too doggone HUMID! I am used to it being pretty hot because in this part of California we can top 110 degrees or more but the humidity makes me feel like I need a shower as soon as I step out of my room! :rolleyes1

We just returned from our 15 day vacation in Florida. Will I do it again....only if there is a great deal!

It was crowded...but by following TGM plans we never waited longer then 10 minutes for anything and we rode so many things over and over again.

The one thing I can't deal with is that Florida Heat and Humidty. We live in Iowa and it can get pretty hot and humid here, but nothing compared to Florida. We would get all showered up and walk out our door and we would have sweat dripping down our backs...yuck!

The nice thing about the summer is that the evenings are so perfect...great weather and the parks are open late. Going swimming everyday is a must and the waterparks were a great way to cool off.

We go every August after the Florida kids have gone back to school. It cuts down on the crowds and usually you can get a much better deal on hotels, etc. Last year we stayed at the Nickelodeon Family Suites after a nightmare experience at the Beach Club Resort and LOVED it. It was so nice to have multiple rooms to spread out and their pool was AWESOME. We are heading back in late August again and can't wait. I would go anytime of year as long as I get to go.

We took the kids for the first time this June and I don't know if I will go back in the summer again unless we have to. We live in Texas and it can get over 100 degrees here, so we are used to the heat...but the dang humidity is a killer.

our past two trips have been in july and august and we are headed back this august :cool1: I like going in the summer because with four kids missing school is not an option. we go for ten days and allot two days for each park so that we can take our time. sure it is hot but it is hot at home that time of year. the crowds i have found are not as bad as people say that they are! we lucked out this year with the free dining! ou :Pinkbounc r family of six will be saving a bundle on food and we will be dining at some restaurants that we have never been to :cheer2: 36 days and we will be back to our happy place :wizard:

We have done WDW in the summer twice. Once in June and once in July. Way too hot. We just dont enjoy ourselves and find that we end up spending more time trying to find stores and such to go into and cool off. The humidity is aweful and am sure that plays a huge part in making one feel miserable. We have been going in the fall/winter months and we truely enjoy it much more.

I love October...we have a fall break in school, the weather is still quite warm (85-90) and we can still go swimming. :sunny: But, we don't die from the humidity. Pretty nice actually.

I don't give a hoot what time of the year it is, I'm up for a trip to WDW. Now, DH is a different story. We went during August & he swore never again. Sbella

Hey, I'm from Mobile too! I can't believe you guys aren't immune to the heat and hummidty!

:p

I'll go (and just got back from a trip) the first week of June, before it gets really hot and before school lets out in the northeast (DNiece missed a few days of middle school to go this year but it was the last week and they did nothing before final exams anyway). I think the second week of June wouldn't be too bad either.
I'll go (and am going) the first week of September - over Labor Day, before school starts up here but when school in the south is already started. It will still be hot. It will be very humid. We may have to deal with a hurricane. But we did get a good deal.

Married to a CPA seems worse than married to a teacher IMHO. We are not even able to go during Mid-Winter or Spring Break because January through April is out of the question. Kids here don't get fall break and we have too many familial obligations during Christmas. Right now I have a toddler but we must consider this for all trips that we take DNiece on. So for our WDW trips, early June and early September are what we are stuck with because July and August I will NOT do. :(
