I have only tried going in the summer once but will not go again, (unless I would win an all expense paid trip that could only be taken during the summer.)

It was a combination of the heat and crowds. Mostly the heat though. We handle the crowds during Christmas week fine. Crowds combined with the heat were a mix that I did not want to deal with again so we will be confining our trips to wintertime!

I love summer in WDW. Ever since our first summer visit, we haven't gone any other time - it rocks. :sunny:

good for my July trip!

I'm sorry that you feel the need to look up my every post and state your obvious dislike for me. I hope you accomplish whatever goal you are trying to achieve. :)

I avoid it like the plague....but that's just because I can.

When I was growing up in Nashville, we would come down for one week every summer and for 3-4 days every February. I didn't mind it in the summer. But now that I have access to Disney all year round, we won't go from end of June-mid August simply because we're spoiled. Yes...I've admitted it. We actually went to MK on July 3rd and after about 3.5 hours decided to get the heck out of dodge and boycott until everyone goes back to school. You can catch me at my pool with a frosty beverage during the summer. :thumbsup2

We didn't have a choice but to go in the summer since my sister and I were both in school and my parents are both teachers. We never had any problems and really enjoyed ourselves every time!! I thought I could handle crowd levels like a champ because of all of our summer vacations until I went Christmas week. Now THERE'S something I'll never do again!! Bring on the summer!

I went to WDW during the summer 3 times when I was a kid. It left a lasting impression on me. W-A-Y too hot. As an adult, I can plan a trip anytime of the year and I will NEVER go during the summer. :sad2:

We've been to WDW in the middle of July. It was ok. I would rather go in July than not go at all! But our first time not in the summer (Dec.2001 after 9/11/01) we were all in shock the entire trip. It was DESERTED!!! I mean no one was there and the weather stayed in th mid to upper 70's the whole week. It was our most wonderful trip. Needless to say early December is not like it was when we went in 2001 but it's not middle of July either!!

We're not jump out of the bed, get to the park as early as it opens, organize fastpasses, plan park routes kind of people. We're sleep in, stroll around the parks, complain if the line is longer than 10 minutes, non fastpass using, get to the park 3 hours after it's opened, take advantage of all TS meals, kind of people. :teeth:

Heat doesn't bother us, but crowds are a drag.

We usually take the girls out of school the last week of the semester, this year it'll be dec 10-17, get back for the last day of school to pick up any paperwork we missed. They never do anything important the last week of either sememster, it's all parties, wrapping up and goofing off.

We used to go during the last week of august when they were younger, but now they start school Aug 14 (stupid georgia rules).

We did the last week of the semester thing in spring, May 17-22, and the 17-20th were fantastic-our best day ever in MK, but on saturday, whoa, crowds out the wazoo! Came back for the last two days of school, and shocker, girls hadn't missed a thing and the teachers were completely fine with them missing school at that time. No tests, no reviews, etc.

Back in the day, we couldn't go any other time really except for the summer cuz that's when us kids had off of school. But I gotta say, I don't really like going in the summer. Florida is hot and humid and full of mosquitoes. Plus, the parks are totally overcrowded & there's usually no discounts on anything!
So personally, I would recommend going in Nov. or Feb. We used to try to hit up the parks in the beginning of Nov. b/c we always had a week or so off (Election Day, teacher's in service, etc.). It's great then because the aren't as many people and, depending on when you go, a lot of places have the Xmas decorations already up. And in Feb., people are just getting settled back from New Years & such. There's less people in the parks and there's good deals because of there aren't as many people. The only drawbacks to going these times are :
1)the parks generally close a lot earlier than the summer
2)it's rarely warm enough to go swimming
3)a lot of rides are closed for refurbishment

Hope this info is of some use to someone!

I will not be able to weigh in my honest opinion until after the end of Aug. We are going 8/24-8/31 on a trip I won (so who am I to complain, even if I hate it, but then again that is virtually impossible seeing that it is WDW!) :cool1: I must admit though, I am a bit nervous about the heat and humidity! In the past we have always gone around the 2nd week of October and the weather has not let us down yet!

I went to WDW once before about 10 years ago during the school year. I really don't remember much, but what I do remember is it being really cold and me complaining a lot about it being cold. I was 8, though, so... yeah, I was 8.
So my next trip to WDW (2 days :cool1: ) really doesn't bother me. The heat I can handle. The crowds I can handle. It's me and a friend, and I hear that's a lot easier than brining your entire family.
I like planning. I have my ADRs and this board has really been helpful. While I can;t say firsthand that I love or hate summer, I know I'm going to have a great time no matter what. Plan early, go early and enjoy my time! :goodvibes

My kids get a week off of school in late February/early March, coinciding with UM's spring break---usually the week after P-week. We love going then---generally good weather, generally only moderately busy (though we went one year during P-week, and it was more than moderately busy!)

We've booked, and later cancelled, two years in a row now during Free Dining. During late August/September, there's so much great stuff to do in our all-too-short Michigan summer that it seems a shame to spend part of it in Florida instead.

We are going last week of August, so I heard it isn't too bad crowd-wise, but the heat factor sounds like it might be intense.

Oh well... still going to try it out, can't beat the free dining!
I guess we can always constantly dump water on eachother, that will make for an adventurous trip!!!!

I love going in the summer! Yes it's wicked hot but the parks are open late, everything is open, and it's pretty festive. I also get to go for a long vacation which I don't get to when I visit at any other time of the year.

We avoid it like the plague!! Its so hot, crowded and expensive...no thanks! There are times that it's comfortable, light attendance and cheaper... that's our speed! :thumbsup2

Summertime in Florida is the land of the three "Hs."

HEAT, HUMIDITY, HAZE.

Could make it four Hs too ... HUGE CROWDS AT WDW.

Enjoy.
