We are wondering which resort is your favorite to stay at if you are planning on just hanging at the resort. We are going on a holiday weekend and know the parks will be crazy and would love to juts hang at the resort (enjoy the pool, grounds, restaurants, etc). It will be in the winter so not sure how warm the pools will be but we will try!).
Which do you prefer and why?

BWV, VGF or VWL. Each is close to food and things to do.

Aulani.

I don't really understand heading to WDW to not go to the theme parks. -- Suzanne

I don't understand going to theme parks, paying a high price for admission, fighting the crowds, standing in line for 40 minutes for a 5 minute attraction, and being so tired after my very expensive vacation that I have to take a vacation. :-)

I haven't done it, but I could...... spend a week at the Beach Club and do nothing but treat it like what it is, a fabulous resort. I'd hang by the pool, golf, maybe horseback ride, use the spa, etc.

I like AK, but don't think I could do a week there. I could at the Beach Club.

For holiday time, I would pick VWL or VGF.

Those are 2 wonderfully themed resorts, and like many others do have community groups coming to entertain with caroling or bell choirs at night. Also, you are not going to a park, but from either, it is relatively easy to get to BLT and TTOTW lounge to see fireworks. From VWL you take a boat, from VGF, the monorail.

During my trip, I would definitely go to at least the Boardwalk resorts, because they too are beautifully decorated for the holidays.

Also, try to find time to go to Fort Wilderness. We also try to ride bikes there. Many campers have awesome holiday decorations!

No doubt ....... AKV Jambo. When we stay at Jambo, we rarely go to parks.

If it's summertime, THV's at SSR. Love spending time in the villa and lots of things to do at SSR or DTD. Any other time (which for me is almost always Thanksgiving week) it's GFV.

I would say BWV or BCV as 2nd choice. The Boardwalk has a lot of nice evening entertainment that you can't find elsewhere, plus many dining options within walking distance. You can always rent a surrey for fun too. If you get bored, there are 4 other resorts within walking distance to check out (YC, BC, Swan, Dolphin).

AKL would be a good choice for the animals, especially if you have a savannah view, but not as much to do there other than the animals....

I have a few, for a few reasons
VWL, love the peaceful feeling, you can catch a boat to FW or Contemporary, listen to the crickets at night while the lanterns flicker, hang out in all the nooks and crannies of VWL or the main Lodge
BWV, all the sights and restaurants around the walkway, having access to other resorts, Illuminations at night
AKV, Savanna views, nice restaurants

In Orlando we love SSR because it's quiet and wonderful by the pools and easy to get to Downtown and from there you can go to any resort to eat. But our favorite for no parks is hands down Vero Beach, love it there.

I'll have to vote for the old folks home (OKW) love the peace and quiet and hanging out around all the pretty landscaping. Boat ride to DTD ain't bad either

our favorite would be Kidani. the pool is great and the atmosphere is relaxing

As s local, 2 1/2 hours away, we use our DVC for exactly that purpose. I do have AP's but since the kids are grown we enjoy the resorts and enjoy being away from home & responsibilities. I love all of the resorts. AKV-love the resort, Jiko & Sanaa, great places to eat. Viewing the animals is magical. SSR-Golf & Spa, beautiful grounds, great for long walks. Turf Club serves good prime rib. Close to DTD. OKW-love the tropical theme, grab a drink at the Guirgling Suitcase. The quiet pools are peaceful. Grab the boat for a night to DTD, maybe a Girardeli's ice cream. BLT-nice pool area, love the little kitchenette. Monorail to Narcossees, Citricos & easy access to Top of the World lounge for a drink and the fireworks. CA Grill for sushi only! BWV-access to many fine restaurants, entertainment on the Boardwalk, great for walking! Love the Boardwalk Bakery. I wouldn't mind a week-end at any of them! Good luck with your choice!

We could easily spend several days at Beach Club without hitting a resort. There is so much to do in the Epcot resort area. I could do a day or two at AKV Jambo with the animals.
