What is your favorite Musical (movie)

I love Sound of music and when I was 11 had memorized all the word to all the songs....I wanted Julie Andrews to be my mom and ..................well I wanted John Wayne to be my dad. Not a good mix;) .

Would have to be :

Moulin Rouge

Sound of Music

Fiddler on the Roof

EVITA

Cabaret, Holiday Inn, Oliver!

I can't pick just one!!!! My overall, lifetime favorite would the "The Sound of Music", but my favorite over the past 7 or 8 years would be Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat (especially with Donny!!!!:lovestruc ) But I also currently have Phantom of the Opera in my CD player (does that count or it is an opera??) and Jesus Christ SuperStar and GodSpell on the top of my "MUST PLAY TODAY" pile!! I just love musical theater of almost any sort!! And I know that this doesn't really count, but I ADORE Riverdance.... seen it live three times....................P

Jesus Christ Superstar
Grease
Sound of Music
Brigadoon
Rocky Horror

My favorites are:

Fiddler on the Roof

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

Grease

I think my favoriteis Kiss Me Kate. I am getting ready to watch Easter Parade this week. Can you tell that I am a big Ann Miller fan?

I also like Guys and Dolls, Singin' in the Rain, Willy Wonka, Music Man, Little Shop of Horrors .....I could go on and on

My DH always complains that I am corrupting his DS's by exposng them to too many movie musicals!!

Oliver! (1968) with Oliver Reed, Ron Moody, Mark Lester, Jack Wild - I LOVE it!

I love loads of musical films but that's my all time top one! ::yes::

How about Bye Bye Birdie? I love that one. And Grease, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Rent, Joseph, Miss Saigon, Les Miserables, Oklahoma, Hello Dolly, White Christmas?

I know some of these are not movies, but they are soo good!

My favorite movie musicals are all ten Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers movies. Others on the list would be High Society, Singin' in the Rain, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

My favorite movies that were originally stage musicals are The Music Man, The Sound of Music, The King and I, Kiss Me Kate, Bells Are Ringing, and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

I'm sure I'll think of more later. :teeth:

:rotfl:

movie versions or stage versions?

movie versions -- I love Chicago, Singin' in the Rain, anything with Judy Garland ...too many to name.

stage musicals -- Fiddler on the Roof, Evita (couldn't stand the movie, they eviscerated it), Hairspray, Les Mis, too many to name.

Love all the ones already mentioned......start in the 1930's and just keep going.

One of my favs, that I don't think anyone mentioned yet, is Camelot. I find myself singing songs from that a lot lately....."the knights of the table round must be invincible...."

Also, off topic, :wave2: to Ocky...you live in my VERY FAVOIRTE COUNTRY ON THIS PLANET!
