What is your favorite little (or big) snack at DLR??

After the earthquake we waited 45 minutes in line at Bengal BBQ. That was the first time we ate there. We each got a meat skewer and then got one veg skewer to split between us. And we got a MM pretzel with cheese to share too. Yum! But that was really lunch, not snack. We will definately go back again, hopefully with a shorter line! However, asparagus in bacon doesn't sound good to me. Mostly because I like my bacon VERY cripsy. Nothing worse than chewy bacon. :confused3

I 2nd that. I like crispy bacon, and that is why I have never tried the bacon wrapped asparagus.

And cseca, of course it counts!!

My favorites would be Churros, Dole Whips, and the any of the Caramel/Candy Apples. And if we are including DTD, then Wetzel's Pretzels haha.. we don't seem to have them in Canada, so I always make sure I have one (with the caramel dip).. mmm.

I'm with you! My daughter and I are still talking about the beignets we had when we were there a couple of weeks ago. Soooo yummy.

Alright!
Fellow beignet lovers :cloud9: :grouphug: !!!

For ones that haven't had them yet, a couple tips:
1. When you shake the bag, shake it away from you or your shirt will be covered in powdered sugar (yes, this is from experience... )
2. Eat them while they're hot! Don't save them for later cuz then you'll see the grease stain on the bag and that's just so unappetizing... :rolleyes1

To be fair to the bacon wrapped asparagus, I like my bacon crispy too and I guess that is what I expected.
However, now that I think about that, it would be really hard to wrap a crispy piece of bacon around the asparagus!
I cannot wait to try the beignets on my next trip! I am thinking they are something like those mini donuts?

Thanks for the tips. :thumbsup2 Where in DTD are they sold? They sound so yummy!

We got them at Cafe Orleans both times we had them. The second time we got them to go after our dinner since we were headed back for an early night at the hotel. We snacked on them while watching "so you think you can dance." It was lovely.

Right beside Ralph Brennan Jazz kitchen restaurant there's a counterservice/coffee shop looking area where they sell them. They are soooo yummy. That'll be my first stop after I check in... :thumbsup2

I must have my frozen banana!!!   And count me in as another popcorn fanatic. popcorn:: Heaven will smell like popcorn; I just know it will. :thumbsup2

Another vote for Mickey shaped pretzels and cheese from my DH and me. And, they MUST be washed down with a freshmade cherry coke from the Refreshment Corner.

I also can't imagine a DLR trip without tigger tails and "mickey on a stick" ice cream bars.

DH also thinks that churros and coffee from the cart in the central hub make a great breakfast, but I am of the opinion that the churros at Costco are just as good (if not better) and they are only $1.

On our upcoming trip next month I am looking forward to finally trying a bacon wrapped asparagus skewer as I always seem to forget about them once we are there... sensory overload, I guess!

Sliced Caramel Apple - from the little ice cream window near the lockers on Main Street. It is almost never open, but when it is, I must have it. If they're not open, I can get almost the same thing at the fruit carts now, but it's not as fresh and the caramel isn't warm.

I also like to buy a bag of sour cherry balls (candy) and a bag of mickey head shaped cheese crackers (like goldfish only better!) to keep on hand for snacking at the hotel and if they last long enough at home.

If you think the peanut brittle is good, Saturday is English Toffee day and believe me, nothing is better than that stuff made fresh and bought right off the assembly line!

Our family ritual includes free refills of the Vanilla coffee at the Market House, the cream cheese pretzels, and the bread bowl salads at DCA. We also make sure to hit Burr-Bank Ice Cream. I personally love the date shakes at San Andreas. We also like the corn dogs, but I always find the ones at the red wagon have been fried a bit too long. I like mine a little less brown. :snooty: We always seem to forget about Bengal Barbeque. I liked the asparagus skewer once upon a time. I love the beef, though. Glad someone posted the marinades up on the internet. Not in any of the cookbooks.

Definitely eat the beneigts fast - once they get cold - blech. You should still be able to get them at the Jambalaya/clam chowder window next to the pirates entrance/exit.

As far as packaged snacks - we love the chocolate covered Mickey pretzels. My little ones wear them really well - and so does our lime green stroller! :scared1:

Never again will I eat the chimichanga.....
