I would use any brand other than any Sherwin Williams product (which includes Sears, Duron, Dutch Boy). Not because of the quality of their paint but because of issues with the corporation's ethics.

I have painted every room in my house at least once and used big box store brand paints on the first 2 or 3 rooms. The coverage was bad/terrible and when I re-painted these rooms a couple of years later, it was very difficult to paint over the Behr/Valspar paint I had used. The Benjamin Moore and SW paints I have used went on easily and can easily be painted over. They may cost more but they go on better, and cover much better. You can ask for the contractor grade - which used to be called pro-mar. It is less viscous (for use with a sprayer if you have one) and a little less expensive. I like it just as much as the super paint.

Personally, BM and SW are both great. I would never buy Behr or Valspar again!

Like others, I like the BEHR brand with the primer in it from Home Depot, seems to do a great job. Then again, Im not a paint connoisseur, the wife loves the results so if she is happy I am happy :yay:

Behr, 100%! I did my whole house and then my grandma asked me to do hers to prepare it to sell. I worked on it last sumer and this (they live in Michigan so I have to travel to do it.) Anyway, I insisted on Behr. I said I'll do it but it has to be Behr. It goes on so nicely and I knew she'd be happy with it. She was!

:confused3 What ethics are you talking about I have never heard anything about them? We use SW paint and have never had a problem, maybe we will switch if the PP I quoted can give more details.P&L has been owned by SW for at least 15 years.

When we moved into our house we used Behr and other brands from Lowe's and HD depending on color choice. We just started repainting the house and decided to see how SW paints would work out. WOW, what a difference. It went on so much better and just looked so much better and well finished than our old paint. We now are SW customers.

Thanks for that tidbit anyway - I couldn't remember who bought P&L when we switched to C2.

I have some SW that I need to use that I got during their 25% off sale so I do not know how it compares but, KILZ from Walmart rocks!!! I have used Behr, Behr with primer and Valspar but KILZ goes on much better, covers in one coat and is great to wash. Also, KILZ is a great budget choice.

Have fun painting,

BM has great colors, covers the best and lasts longer than comparable products. If you shop around you can get a good price. You only get what you pay for. Most contractors in the NJ/NY area prefer BM over other brands. :goodvibes:cool1:

Absolutely!!!! I LOVE this. Even the toughest colors only needed 3 coats max. example...bright red to white..... black to white..... white to red....Home Depot orange to baby blue.... deep blue to orange.
(MUCH better than 2-3 coats of primer and 2 coats of color)

I totally agree, love Behr paint with primer, it covers beautifully.

I getting ready to repaint some rooms in my house. I have only used Benjamin Moore on my walls and I am happy with it. I have a friend who can get me some Sherwin Williams paint for a better price than my BenM. I know Sherwin W is supposed to be a good paint as well. What paint would you choose?

If you can get a better price then the Sherwin Williams. It's the best!
