What is your best reply when people say "let me guess, going to Disney AGAIN?!!!"

First I just have to smile......obviously anyone asking "what...WDW again?" doesnt't understand and probably never will.
Then I think of all the people who ski at the the same resorts sometimes multiple times a year, or those who go to the same lake over and over again, or those who go to the same beach house ......and I simply say 'It's no different then going to the same ski resort each year'. Ths usual response is " OH...you're right".

My dh was one of those people that said 'you're going there again??'. However, after his second visit last August, with just our family, he was the one that signed us up for DVC!!! My dd says he got bitten by the mouse. When someone asks why we keep going to WDW, we tell them 'where else can we get great golf, family boating, great restaurants, night-life, 4 terrific theme parks, fireworks, incredible lodging?' That usually ends the questioning!! We used to vacation evey year on Cape Cod. Not anymore. We still are taking little mini-vacations to see other parts of the country, but our big get-away is to WDW!!!

"Yup...and I can't wait.."....I can no longer be embarrassed or shamed me my obsession of WDW....I'm proud of it now...

We used to get the "Again?" thing too, but now folks just ask "WHEN are you going again?". All except for SIL. She truely does NOT understand it and refuses to come down with us.

Hi,

Good thread!! My dad told us to go down to WDW for a vacation & we've never looked back. He finds alittle strange that we have gone every year since 2001 but that's okay. He's not into Disney & that's okay. I'm not going to force DVC down anyone thoat. Its their descision. Meanwhile I am looking forward to going & planning future trips. :)

...am surprised that people are shocked that we go to WDW as often as we do, but it's O.K. for folks to go to Las Vegas a few times a year where drinking, gambling and womanizing is encouraged. Even their new motto is "What happens here, stays here." Go figure.

Whew - good thing she stays home. She wouldn't have a good time anyway & just ruin everyone else's time!!!

My response when asked "Going to Disney again?" is "Yeah, where else would I go!!" At that point they respond with, "Have fun!!" :teeth:

So many people are right, it's no different than going to the shore every year or renting a cabin in mountains. DH & I just went by ourselves a few weeks ago & everyone was so surprised. When I told them all the things we did, without even going to a theme park they were amazed.

Disney is not just theme parks. It is a complete resort with so many things to do. Until you "catch the magic" you can't understand that. ;)

I feel almost embarrassed these days when I tell people that we will be out of town on vacation. People right away would say, Orlando? Disney Again!!!!

Nope...Hilton Head. We won't be vacationing at Disney for another 3 months.;)

If you really want to stump people when they say... Going Again??? Yes, but this time we are NOT going to ANY parks! People's eye widen then cross as they try to figure out what one could posibly do at WDW if you didnt go to the parks...

Or another one... Going Again?? Yes, but this time it is just my girl friend and myself, no kids.... NO KIDS?? Why in the heck would you go to WDW without kids???

I get this all the time.
My favorite response is to ask them a question. "Where do you go on vacation every year." 9 times out of 10 I get, "we go to the beach." Then I ask how much they spend at the beach. Normally round 1500 bucks. I tell them well my room is only costing me my points. And I get 4 theme parks, golf courses, 3 water parks, countless beaches, hundreds of restaurants, my own kitchen, vcr, couch and great view of a golf course. I get fireworks or a lazer show at least once a night. I get at least 4 parades a day, live animals, fun people and a learning experience.
You get sand, water ocean and ...........ummmm Now what were you asking?

Several of our friends and family used to harrass us and joke about our frequent trips for years. We have the oldest kids of our family and most of our friends and we started our frequent trips before the youngest was even born, 10 years ago. I don't even mention Disney anymore when they ask. I just say we're going to Florida, they know, and then they are dying to hear what new thing we did when we get back. I think they are a little jealous now that we know our way around so well and when they go with their kids now, it all seems so overwhelming and big to them. I think they secretly wish they could go on a trip with us but they are too embarrassed to ask after all the years of jokes they made about us.

I say, "Yeah we have a great time as a family there, and I need more bad shoe pictures."

There is no reply to that. (Well you need professional help is a good reply by I take that in stride.)

we can easily explain that, well, we have a son (just turned 6 at AKL!) who is wheelchair-bound (severe CP), so someplace that is warm and completely hadicap-friendly where our son is treated like royalty; that's the vacation place for us!

Yeah, It would be fun to take the family to Singapore and Malaysia like my DS and BIL did this year, but Asian cities are not at all wheelchair friendly, and the jungle: forget about it! (of course one 8 yr old niece wants to come on vacation with us rather than her family; she finds her family's vacations too much work). We'll happily stick to WDW, and the helpful CMs who make every day wonderful for our boy, and his little sister (us too)

Here in Minnesota a lot of people have a cabin up at the lake, or know someone who does and make yearly trips "to the lake." So we just say we don't have a lake place, but instead go to Disney every couple of years.

Other people do the beach or ski. Camping (I seem to know a lot of serious campers) isn't our cup of tea....I haven't been camping in years! The campers will say "but camping is cheap, Disney is so expensive." To which I reply "we are lucky enough to be able to afford it."

Have friends who took their three year old to Europe. And I'm really looking forward to doing that with my kids, but they don't travel well enough yet (or at the pace I need) for international travel. We don't have enough points for yearly (or more often) trips, and don't want them - so that we can go other places. But we want to be able to go back to Disney as well.

I haven't ever had anyone ask me THAT question...but if they did, my answer would be, "Yes!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: "

I competly agree with this. WDW is a family friendly place that you don't need to be a family to enjoy. If I am going to spend the time and money going on vacation I want something for it, not gamble it away.

Of couse we also enjoy a beach vacation every year or so too. I also would like to try some new places as DD gets older. But for now over seas and long distance travel isn't for us. But with DVD we have options for the future too. One thing I love about WDW is unlike visiting New York City or some other palce, almost everyone else is also on vacation. It just gives you such a good feeling.

Friends and family have seemed to except this about my hubby and I now. In fact some are even coming with us.

I guess we are really lucky...most of the people we know wish they were going with us!:p I guess every once in a while we get a little snicker, but most everyone knows how much our family LOVES Disney. We went to Arizona for Easter break in 2002 and everyone was shocked they couldn't believe that we went somewhere besides Disney.

I can't wait to go next week!:hyper:

Most of the people know we love to go to WDW. So they always ask when our next trip is going to be. I have helped several people plan their trips. Helped save them money too. But there are a couple who really get on my nerves. So I never talk about WDW to them. But this one guy brings the subject up anyway and then he goes on about how expensive everthing is, etc.... He's really sarcastic, but I usually just grit my teeth and try to ignore him. Of course, they have a timeshare at the ocean.

They are also the same ones who ask you a few months later, "We're going down to Disney, which ticket should we buy, the UPH like the Disney website suggests?" Then you get into a discussion on when, how long, where are you staying, etc. and they tell you that you should go work for Disney.
