What is your best backhanded compliment?

I have been given my best friend stick because at Christmas she came over for a drink and when she looked at my tree she said "you are so brace, letting the kids decorate the tree"
So it's been a couple of months of me saying things like "you are so brace leaving the house with your hair like that" bahahaha

Your daughter is "getting so pretty" (not to me, to one of my girlfriends)... it's now our standing one liner, "you're getting so pretty"!

My grandma says this to my daughter every time she sees her, like WHAT?! She is 10! Way to boost her confidence Grams.

One time a guy told me I was "cuter than a speckled pup." Not sure how to take that one.

I was also told once, "you'd be super model gorgeous if you lost some weight."

Oh, also "your [new] haircut looks so much better" or "your [new] haircut makes you look so much younger."

I was also told once, "you'd be super model gorgeous if you lost some weight."

In the past year or so I have lost some weight. One person reacted by saying:
Well you've always had a pretty face
And another person told my husband, when I wasn't around, I never realized how beautiful she was.

Bless your heart..

Just for the record, sometimes when someone says bless your heart, they really do mean bless your heart. It's all in the inflection. My co-worker had to run pick up her daughter from school today because she was throwing up. She called to say she wouldn't be back to work, poor child even threw up in the car (this isn't a young child, she's in high shcool). I said "poor xxxx, bless her heart". I meant bless her heart, she was having a bad day and I felt sorry for the child. Now if someone told me they couldn't get their Caddy started and their Jag was in the shop, I'd say Bless Your Heart! and then I'd be being sarcastic. It's all about context.

I (jokingly) like to say, "I don't care what they say about you, I think you're all right" when people help me out or do something nice.

My older sister was giving a speech at a family function where she was talking about our younger sister. She described her to the audience as "My most beautiful sister." As soon as the words left her mouth she got this horrified look on her face as her eyes slid across the room to where I was giving her this look: o_O

I guess I know where I stand. :snooty:

:rotfl2:

(BTW, I contend that I'm the smartest sister ;) )

I'm a preschool teacher. I like to tell parents, "boy! That child is going places"
