You know the "I dont feel like cooking so we're having...." which in my house is generally followed by " AGAIN?????"

:rotfl2:

In our house it is Spagetti (tonight) or French Toast.

My back up meal is called...Do your own thing. Its sort of a fend for yourself, and eat what you want kinda thing.

Gumbo!

Chicken and sausage Gumbo
Shrimp and okra Gumbo

Got lots frozen and ready to zap when need be. :thumbsup2

I have a few like the ones mentioned - spaghetti, frozen pizza. But since we don't have kids, I'm especially bad with my eating habits if DH isn't home. Sometimes it's cereal. Sometimes cheese and crackers. Tonight I had cheetos, and then drank some hot chocolate with marshmallows while I watched Grey's Anatomy .

One thing we do sometimes is roll smoked ham and cheddar cheese up in those Pillsbury crescent rolls that you bake. Yum.

My back up is stir-fry. I have lots of sauces and things so I just fry up whatever protein I can find with whatever vegetables are around and serve it over pad thai noodles or jasmine rice.

We usually have a Stouffer's Lasagna or chicken casserole and a Stouffer's Mac and Cheese in the freezer.

Usually spaghetti, and it happens when I'm not home. :teeth: If I'm home and don't feel like cooking, it's pizza.

That said, the waitress at our usual pizza joint commented that she has hardly seen us lately. Since the freezer is full of prepped meals from the most recent job, we don't tend to go out much and the 'don't feel like cooking' hasn't been that big an issue.

Usually spaghetti here too but tonight it was a homemade chicken pie. My neighbor makes them and was doing an order of 40 pies. She called today while I was on my way home form work and I was SOOO not in the mood to cook. What a great break!

At my house we call that, "Grab it and Growl". :rotfl:

Back up is usually grilled cheese and soup or chicken patties. It would be spaghetti but DH isn't a big fan of spaghetti.

If I feel like throwing something in the oven then we'll have pizza and salad or carrots
or Chicken fingers, potato wedges and brocolli. I even throw the brocolli in a covered baking dish and cook it right in the oven with everything else.

Stouffer's lasagna w/Texas Toast, easy spaghetti (doctored up jar sauce), pancakes(tonight ;) ), frozen pizza, chicken patties w/french fries and chicken and rice casserole. I usually always have these things on hand and as soon as I use one up, I add them to the next grocery list. Guess I don't feel like cooking alot! :teeth:

ETA: I forgot grilled cheese and soup. I stocked up on cheese recently since it's soup weather again (already had the soup).

You mean I'm supposed to have a back up meal?

:teeth:

Chicken nuggets & fries for the 8 year old and maybe a peanut butter sandwich for me - ya, I know, I go all out.

Our classic fall-back dinner is Panera. It's about 10 blocks from our house, and either DD18 or I can drive there, get dinner, and be back home in 20 minutes. We all love the chicken with wild rice or chicken noodle soup, and we all have a favorite salad as well.

It might be a Panera night tomorrow night, come to think of it!!!

My parents own an Italian sandwich shop - so we always have sandwiches... It's to the point where I like ham and cheese slabbed between two slices of white bread better than another chicken cheese steak or whatever my mom feels like bringing home that day.

That and microwave chicken nuggets.. they're always in the freezer.

tinned chilli in a bread bowl!

we call it snack night. I always have hot dogs, pizza, bread, cheese, lunchmeat and popcorn and everyone is on their own. We usually have snack night on sunday night because not everyone is hungry and people come and go.
