What is with all the ads and announcements on right hand side of page

It won't let me add a comment under the other post someone had asking what is going on. Mods, anyone have a clue? I have an adblocker running, but these things are taking up more than half of the page here

They are links to DIS content, not 3rd party advertisements.

Not sure why they aren't on the other boards.

I don't mind the zombie threads at the bottom. I actually enjoy reading some of them. Not a fan of the adds on the right hand side. It takes up too much of my screen.

They make everything all squished over to the left on my page. They are definitely too large for the page and extremely annoying.
