We had annual passes this past year and went to the plaza every time, 99% of our trips I was able to make reservations for the plaza less than 60 days out, or sometimes even while in the park. Our last two trips I was unable to get a reservation at all. I'm planning a trip now we're about 50 days out and there is absolutely no availability for any time of day for any of our days, is this the usual, was I just lucky those other maybe 6 or 7 trips when I got the reservations?

ADR's are only available 11 - 12 Noon. It is walk up the rest of the day.
This started several months ago

It's never that busy in the evening. In the past I could always get those reservations even up to the last minute.

I got one for May 11 a ccuple days ago @ 180 out for a table of 10 at 11:10 in the morning. Lookout Meatloaf, here we come! :tigger:

I came here to ask the same exact question. We usually make Plaza ADRs day of. I hadn't heard that it had changed to walk-up only for most of the day.

How hard is it to get a walkup on not-crazy-busy days. We'll be there in late January and I do love the Plaza!

We have been able to get a walk up without much wait, we are a party of 2 so maybe easier because of our party size.

We love the plaza, but yes they recently changed and only take ADRs during their opening hour. Starting at noon it's walk up only. So now all of us who want a set ADR are now competing for that small window of time. Between this change and the change of the lunch menu at liberty tree, we just eat quick service or go back to our villa to eat.

We always do at least 1 meal at the Plaza. We were there in December and had no problem getting in (around 1 p.m.) and it was pouring outside.

What would be the problem with just walking up and waiting?

We tried a walk up during our last trip. Arrived around 11:30 and told it was a 45 minute wait.
That's during their ADR time, so of course it's difficult to be seated. After 12p it's walk-up only bad would be much easier.

Yep, it's still pretty easy to eat at The Plaza -- even without the reservation.

We've done walk-ups three times since the change was made (twice at lunch and once at dinner), we've never waited more than 20-25 minutes (though we've been quoted waits of 40-50 minutes). Our last lunch there, my husband went to photograph Mickey's Royal Friendship Faire while I waited with the pager and a little more than halfway through the show, I had to go find him because our table was ready.

I've waited that long just to be seated for an ADR, more than once. That's why I asked what the problem would be with walking up and waiting. It isn't as if you get seated immediately with an ADR, especially during busy times. Sometimes the wait is nonexistent. Sometimes it's 10 or 15 minutes. And sometimes it's a lot longer than that. And it seemed to me it would be the same thing with the potential waits as a walk up for the Plaza.

Wow, I've never waited more than 15 minutes ever for our party of 2. We've waited longer when we have been a big party in the past. With 4 trips a year and each trip 10-16 days each, we've eaten everywhere. Of course we don't travel during busy times either (if a non-busy time even exist anymore). We only have a few places we even eat at anymore as our list has gotten shorter over the last 20 years.

Our longest waits were SciFi and Rose & Crown, both in late August of last year, and both around 45 minutes. I get people waiting for waterside seats impacts things at the latter, but SciFi really doesn't have an excuse except for slow service. In December, we had two 20 to 30 minute waits at Biergarten as well, and a very happy zero wait at 50s Prime Time.

I agree about SciFi, when thinking of a long wait, that is the one place I remember our party of 6 waiting for a very long time. The other longer wait would be for Beaches and Cream when we are a party larger than 4. Considering it's size, we expect it when we are 6. For a party of 2, we get right in, often at the counter!
