what's wrong with Nemo and the Mermaid?

I googled Nemo and found a review where the poster said

And having Dory in it is offensive. There are many people out there with short-term memory issues like that and I think it's offensive to create a character that mocks that.

I actually thought Dory helps children understand a more about learning disabilities. Some children with learning disabilities may have a high IQ but sometimes they have problems with a short term memory.
My nephew has dyslexia and a short term memory and my Sister In law thought the movie was wonderful and she said Dory helped her son feel so much better about himself and gave him more self confidence.

So I guess it is more about how we view the movie whether it can be a positive experience or a negative one.

I wish we could go back to the 70's 80's when people had a sense of humor and everything didn't have to be harmful to someone or other.

There's a thin line between being sensitive and just plan rediculous.

I don't think there is ANYTHING wrong with the Nemo movie movie at all. It's actually a very heart-warming story of a broken family and the love a father has for his little son. Not to mention that Nemo has a small birth defect (smaller fin) and that doesn't stop him from going on adventures and doing the things "all the other fishes do". IMO, this is a wonderful movie/story for children of all ages. It has a very great message.

Are we as a society getting way way too touchy and offended? Is the shooting gallery next? Jessica Rabbit? The horse and buggys going up and down Main Street pulling heavy load after heavy load of guests? Mickey never being able to commit to Minnie and marrying her? She's not getting any younger, you know. Candlelight Processional too religious? Dole Whips too fattening? The list can be created to go on and on. Everything isn't going to please everyone everytime We can't continue to filter everything so that it is so stripped down that it leaves things without personality, feeling and plain old dull.

I'm hoping that the guy wasn't serious but he said:

As a black African American, I'm highly offended by Finding Nemo. This is another attempt by the Man to oppress the brothers. Suggestions of racial inferiority are played out all throughout this "Disney" movie. Why do the "colored" fish have to be "enslaved" in the aquarium? And notice the "white" seagulls were the ones who saved the day?

I grew up with the Three Stooges, Our Gang comedies, Batman, Gilligan's Island (Ginger would not be PC today), Speed Racer (promotes fast stunt driving), I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched (witchcraft), Dick Van Dxxx (smoking galore), I Love Lucy (where Ricky was constantly heckled for his accent), and countless other shows that wouldn't be even allowed in today's PC world. And believe me, I'm not scarred by the experience.

Sorry....one more review on Nemo:

"My 3 year old daughter hated this movie and cried most of the time! It went from one violent scary moment to another! My husband and I were stunned...we kept thinking it HAD to get better but it didn't! How did this get a "G" rating?!? While other children's movies have some violence, like Lion King, Brother Bear, etc., those movies quickly defuse the fearful moments with an extended comic relief moment or song. With this movie, soon as a child is starting to calm down after seeing something like the take off of the Stephen King movie "The Shining" 'Here's Johnny!' scene, there quickly comes a scene with a horrifying creature with a long fangs chasing Nemo's father and Dorie, or Nemo almost getting ground up by the filtration system in the fish tank or one of the many other horrifying scenes. This kind of stuff went on throughout the whole length of the movie. This is NOT a movie for young children! The animation is well done...making things look very real, thus more scary. "
