What is UP with the Country Bear Jamboree?

wow- i can see that here on the disboards....having a different OPINION than the majority is definitely NOT a good thing.

I would amend that by saying that you are asking for trouble if you express a negative opinion about anything Disney on the Boards. But the personal stuff is usually confined to the Community Board. This thread includes many more personal attacks than most Theme Park threads.

But I love CBJ -- so I have to respectfully disagree with your "*****" comment.

Alright - Im taking wagers.... Who wants in?

Similar to the rehabbing of P.O.C. this wager involves the PC changes that will be made and when - regarding Country Bears.

Go ahead and just PM me - and Ill provide you with the PayPal account.

:sad2: Good Lord. :sad2:

And yes - Im kidding. No need to report me, too.

Dh and I were cracking up during the show, its irreverant but funny. It didnt harm dd in any way to watch the show and I hope we dont make our world so sterile that nothing can be watched/ show without fear of offending anyone.

It is not disturbing to me in the least bit. But, if some people are so bothered by it....well, then just don't go. :confused3

wow- i can see that here on the disboards....having a different OPINION than the majority is definitely NOT a good thing. its my OPINION that i found the lyrics offensive. if i had known what they sing about in advance, i probably would not have taken my kids in. i am in noooo way uptight, or a controlling parent who doesnt let my kids experience life- but do i think they need to be exposed to those lyrics? no. and especially since the attraction is boring and in my OPINION pretty much sucks. so big deal- i asked if anyone else was offended? did i say they need to remove the attraction from disney? no. for everyone who is getting so upset- get over it. it was a comment, i thought this was a place to DISCUSS disney... but now i see you can only discuss things that the majority agrees upon. pretty sad.

Now, the word I've bolded offends ME. You may just consider it to be another way to express an opinion that something isn't very good, but I was raised at a time when it was one step below a word that it rhymes with, and ONLY had one meaning. :scared1: I did not allow my children to use it, nor do I allow it to be used around me without voicing my displeasure.

And yeah - I sat down with my 9 and 11yo tonight and we watched Family Guy - as a family! (I draw the line at South Park, though...)

Blasphemous! They would all burn in hell with Harry Potter!

The Country Bears? Really? Are we talking about the Country Bears? Good God what has this world come to? No Pun intended.

I was thinking the same thing..it didn't makes sense that the op is so worried about CBJ but yet phrases things in that manner.

Now I can't get "Buford" out of my head. I keep going around singing it!:rotfl:

Ok.. just a reminder to us all - we all don't have to agree with each other - but we do have to treat each other with respect.

Thanks,

Knox

Ah, here's the rub.....in my house, we don't use certain words...sucks, butts...I know, they are pretty mainstream nowadays. But not in my house. And I have a 34 y/o, a 31 y/o and a 14 y/o....so, I've been down the parenting road for quite a long time.
It's all about what is 'okay' in each family. My family does not do AstroOrbiter. Why? Because they know mommy will spew bad words along with other 'stuff' if she is forced to do that attraction. There are many things that some will find objectionable in WDW, as well as the Disney films. To each his/her own.....aka live and let live.

Now I can't get "Buford" out of my head. I keep going around singing it!:rotfl:

Well, after viewing CBJ with those whacko buddies, one of them has made up lyrics for the Buford song just for me....and sings it to me all the time. That song is always in my head!!!! Man, life is tough for me.:lmao:

I was thinking the same thing. We don't allow that word in our household, especially to criticize something in an arguement. But would probably see the Country Bears. To each his own.:confused3

If Harry Potter's in Hell, I'd have a hard time getting my dd up to Heaven anyway. "Harry Potter? Where is he? I wanna hang out with Harry Potter!"

:rotfl:

I'm only chiming into this thread because when we were to CBJ last September I was disappointed because the sound was horrible. I hope they have it fixed by now because I'll be there in a few weeks and I would not miss CBJ.

EEK! I use that word all the time. I NEVER once thought of it in the same context as the other word which begins with another letter. EVER!!!

Wow, I didn't realize that was so bad. Ok, I will take it out of my vocabulary. I'm actually being serious. I didn't know it was so offensive.

I guess we should only agree with OPs that the majority agree with?:confused3

[THAT was sarcasm]

My husband and I are Christians who carefully consider what we expose our children to. We have been blessed by our caution to this point and expect that we will continue to be. We also do not lack for entertainment that we approve of and must have at least 75 movies that we find suitable.

Amazingly enough, my children have never seen the Nemo movie, yet based on a deck of Nemo cards they received for their birthdays and those enormous coloring sheets that Crayola packages they feel they "know" these characters and chose to spend their vacation dollars on a Nemo set to play with. They got the idea of the story from the Nemo Musical without having to see the film.

I stand by my opinion that Disney is not rated "G" but rather "PG" and that parents are the best judges of what their children should see.

what on earth is wrong with the film "Finding Nemo"?

I'm confused about Nemo too....except for perhaps the sharks. Those things are scary!!! :scared1:

That would be me:

Diane don't whoop little Buford.
Diane don't pound on his head.
Diane don't whoop little Buford.
I think you should shoot him instead.
Bang. haha.

Seriously, the CBJ is a bit inappropriate, and politically incorrect, but it sure is a lot of fun because of that :) I'll be dragging goofy4tink to see it again in a few weeks :)

I googled Finding Nemo and Offensive and apparently it conveys racial inferiority.
