What is up with Spaceship Earth??

Okay, Disney friends--I know I have missed something along the way. I had heard awhile ago that SE was going to be gutted. Then I heard they were just changing the stuff in there after you get off the ride. Seems like I heard a couple of other concepts along the way too.

So, what is the deal? Is it going to be redesigned or just looking for new sponsorship or what?

The "gutted" thing isn't happening, for the time being. Although no one can predict what Disney will do, the plans for a new attraction inside were cancelled. Rumor was that the ride track couldn't be removed because it would wreck the integrity of the entire structure.

In any case, here's hoping SE gets a mother of a rehab, but that it remains much the same - it's the only AA ride left in Epcot.

I agree that the ending of the ride could use some work, but I love the main part of this ride. It's DDs favorite ride in all of WDW! (Although now that she is a bit older, she is pretty into BTMRR too!!)

As to the OP's question: I'd heard both of those rumors (gutting; the post-ride area) - but only on these boards. And it may have only been someone else asking about them - and thus a rumor is born.
