While at MK on Dec 18th my DD17 and I were in the Fastpass line for BTMRR. A couple in front of us spoke perfect English albeit with French sounding accents as we walked along in line (It was an unusually long Fastpass Line, but still no where near the standby wait) We chatted with them pleasantly as we waited, I repeat in PERFECT ENGLISH.

Anyway, time comes to hand in our fastpasses, and all of a sudden the couple lose their ability to speak english. The husband says to the CM "What is this fastpass you speak of?" Rather then attempt to explain it to a couple who as far as the CM knows, don't speak English, he just waves them through. :sad1:

Later that day we say the same couple pull the same scam on Peter Pan! :headache:

This isn't the first time I have seen this done, but for some reason, having talked so pleasantly with this couple only moments before, it really upset me.

Now me and my DD joke as we walk around the world we say "What is this fastpass you speak of" in bad french accents. We tell each other we are practicing for Soarin'...but we are really only joking around. We would never really do something so rude.

When we went to TOT last September, there was a Spanish lady (with 3 kids) who spoke hardly any English in the FP queue behind us. I actually felt very sorry for her when she got turned away by the CM - but she did get turned away. I think it just depends on the CM, like lots of things at Disney.

The way I figure it, people will always try and pull some sort of scam to get past the lines - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sounds like, on this occasion, it worked. Not fair, I agree, but also not worth getting worked up about.

I would have said something to the CM at that point. Other than that it's best to just laugh it off, like you did.

OMG, I saw the exact same thing happen on BTMRR on Dec 21st. Maybe it was the same people!!

I don't think it happens too often that people get away with it. I saw several people try it (many who couldn't/wouldn't speak English), and every one of them was turned away and pointed towards the FP machine.

Thier plan worked.

As the saying goes....

"If you're not cheating, you're not trying hard enough"

Good for them. If they have the personal fortitude to try that, and put up with dirty looks. Let them do it. They are just taking advantage of the fact that many people dont like to deal with others from a different language.

It seems like every time I ride Space Mountain, there are people walking out of the fastpass line in the tunnel. They could have chickened out but my bet is they tried to jump the rail and get in the fastpass line without one and were turned away.

:rotfl: I guess when things like that happen, you just have to laugh it off....at least you got something funny to talk about with your DD!!! :rotfl:

Come to think of it, I see that just about every time I ride SM as well. I always figured it was people chickening out, but then again, it's been more than one or two people over time. This scenerio makes sense!

We just saw something similar at the single rider line in Test Track. We were next up on the FP line, and the CM sent the woman at the head of the single rider line to the next car. Her husband(guessing?) went after her and the CM said "No, just her, this is the single rider line." They spoke very little English and appeared to be truly puzzled by this (or were very good actors). The CM took them away and left them with another CM who showed them the way out.

OMG!! We saw the same thing at Test Track! Some guy WITH his daughter in the single rider line. The CM let them through with the warning that they wouldn't allow it again though.
