After reading the posts on the June board, I am getting very depressed...
We are going June 13-20. Now I expect to be hot, stinky, crowded, and RAINED ON!!!
So...what can I do with two boys (4 and 7) during the daily thunderstorms???

We are also going in June (first two weeks) and I expect that when it rains it will cool us down from the hot, sticky day. I am glad to be going thunderstorms or not and we will probably go inside and watch a show or go for something to eat. There is a few places that are indoors like 'wonderworks' and Disney Quest which I think will be fun.

We go often in the summer time and the rain has never been a real issue. Yes it will rain, but only for a short time. All the parks have something to do inside while it's raining. Like Innovention at Epcot, or 3-d movies like Muppet vision at MGM or Mickeys at MK. Most often it starts to rain during a time we are having lunch or back at our resort for a break. Don't worry the rain, it won't slow you down or ruin or trip. Even the shopping can be fun for kids while waiting for the rain to stop.

You put on ponchos (disposable ones are great because you can just throw them out after) and make sure that you have good sandals etc. for your feet (vs. sneakers) and you go on enjoying the parks as everyone else freaks out and leaves. Just remember that the "thunderstorms" that they have in Florida are not like thunderstorms that you experience in other parts of the country... it rains harder than you can imagine for 20 minutes and then abruptly stops and in an hour you can't even tell that it rained because everything is dry.

The $1.00 ponchos from Walmart or Academy work fine. Besides, it times when the conditions are not perfect that leave the greatest impression. Kids love walking and running in the rain!

There are plenty of places to "hide" from the rain, if that is what you want to do. But don't leave the park because the storms really do not usually last that long.

Ditto all these -- do not despair and be prepared to have a blast!

MGM is a great rainy day park -- lots of indoor stuff.

We once had a great laugh when, walking through AK on a rainy day, we overheard a mom tell her kids -- "But it's CALLED the rainforest!" -- that was exactly the right attitude.

Enough people are apparently afraid of melting that they just take off and leave all the fun to you!

Yep, all the above posts got it right :thumbsup2 Have fun, don your poncho's and PLAY! It's amazing how fast the place empties out when it rains. In 30 minutes you won't even be able to tell it rained and it will be gorgeous...and very hot. The rain will actually feel good, as during the summer you're looking for anything that will cool you down :teeth:

What do WE do in the rain?? Everything!!! We rejoice when it clouds up and most people head for the exits!!! We dance in the streets when we can WALK ON Peter Pan and Pooh without a 60 minute wait!! We relish the fact that we packed out 50 cent ponchos and flit hither and yon to enjoy yet another fantastic day!!!

Don't worry about the rain--it only slows down those who don't know the value of it!!! :thumbsup2

See you in the puddles!!!

AGREED! Splashing in the puddles and walking on the streets of MGM with water up to my knees was so much fun! Of course that is for two 18-yr-olds. I would recommend this to anyone who doesnt have small kids... I am not sure with the little ones. If you dont mind them walking in the flooding, have a good time with it! Theyll probably enjoy getting soaked. My bf and I bought Mickey ponchos but with the one storm in MGM they didnt help all that much!!! That was the only day it was that bad, though. All the other days it rained it was only very quick and didnt really get us soaked. Also when the rain stops the sun comes out like crazy.

Can you say "no lines"? The rain is perfect. Also, it doesn't rain in the Rose and Crown :drinking1

If you're at AK during the rain, it is the best time to ride Kali River Rapids. The wetter you get the more fun it is. :cool1:

If you are in Animal Kingdom when it begins to rain head straight for Kilimanjaro Safari!!! The animals the love the rain and the elephants play and spray each other... the best ride I have ever been on is when it was pouring.

That's so awesome!! Now I hope it pours at AK when we're there to see the animals playing in the rain, that'd be so cute!

We just put on our ponchos and keep on going.

There are also alot of indoor attractions that you can do if it rains. It is also fun to walk around the gift shop or grab a bite to eat somewhere.

I look at it like I'm not the wicked witch of the west, so I won't melt if it rains. WE always keep going, no point in letting a little rain ruin a fabolous vacation. Granted we haven't had rain at EPCOT in ages, so chance are if it happens this year we'll be sitting in Mexico with a pitcher of Margaritas.

party: party:
