My DH and I will be at AKV in September for a week :cool1:, which I am so excited about! Anyway, my question is this: I have a friend that doesn't live far away and I wanted to know what the rules are for visitors. Is he allowed to come visit in the villa? Can he and his family come to the pool with us? I know we will meet in the park but wasn't sure what limitations we had with visitors.

Thanks!

They can visit you. My DFs give my name and show the picture ID at the guard house. They usually get a temporary parking pass, but not always. They are not allowed to use the pool. What I sometimes do is put their names on the reservation if we think we would like to spend time in the pool. This only easily works if you don't have the dining plan and it only works if their names do not put you over occupancy. I've also gotten a room for my friends so they could swim and be regular guests of the resort, joining my family for the day/night.

The pool may only be uses for registered guests.

Yes, the pool is only for registered guests. That said, it never hurts to ask at the front desk, especially if the pool isn't busy. If there isn't much of a crowd, they could say yes, but if they say no, then remember they are following the policy. Nothing ventured, noithing gained. Also keep in mind that even other onsite DVC members are not allowed to hop to the AKV pools, so I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they are more strict regarding the policy at AKV and BLT.

Thanks for the info and the pool usage makes sense to me! I forgot that others aren't allowed to pool hop there so... to myself I say....DUH!

Thanks again! :woohoo:

Curious -- how does anyone know that you are not a guest of that resort? Is there someone at the pool checking room keys?

I am only planning my 2nd DVC trip, so this pool hopping thing is new to me and I've never had a visitor. BUT, you never know.....

Usually not - except at SAB. But sometimes they do. We pool hopped to the Poly two years ago and got asked for our blue DVC member card AND our current room key. It was a pretty crowded day at the Poly pool and we were obviously HOPPING - daybag, clothes, change in the bathroom.

(They have the right to suspend hopping if the pool gets too busy).

Your blue member card & kttw card may need to be shown, SAB issued a wristband, at AKV-Kidani you need kttw to open gate into pool area.

As other posters here have said someone who visits you can't use the pool so as suggested you may want to list them on your reservation if it doesn't put you over your unit's occupancy & if you aren't on dining plan so when they do come to visit they are considered registered guests.

We were asked for our ID at Luna Park at the BW once and I have heard that they also check at the WL pool.

My wife and I were thinking about adding two extra people to our studio reservation for some family that will be staying off site. We wanted to do that in case two of the kids wanted to "sleep over" or use the resort pool during the day. I just wanted to make sure this was not against the rules. I also wanted to make sure we could get them key cards even thought they would not be with us at check in. This will not put us over the occupancy limit and we will not be doing the dining plan. What do you think... is this okay??

As long as you are not over the occupancy, you can add them to your reservation.

I always add my sister & her son to my ressie since she only lives an hr away. Even if she doesn't come it's a nice convience just knowing they can stay with us for either the day or night. Plus, it sure beats driving over to Tampa & losing a day @ the World :lovestruc
