What is the umbrella entrance at Disneyland?

There's an open gate next to the turnstiles at Disneyland with an umbrella that some people enter through. I keep wondering what that is for, but never remember to ask. Last time I was there, I did see a large group with what looked like paper tickets going through there. It didn't look like their tickets were being scanned. What is that entrance for?

I happen to be standing in line at the DL turnstiles right now waiting for MM and do not see any umbrella.

It's available for wheelchairs, but anyone can use it. We have occasionally used it because sometimes later in the day there's no line there.

We've always used it as well, but this last trip, after having used it earlier in the trip, a CM wouldn't let anybody not in an ECV/wheelchair through. He was super rude about it too. We switched lines and noticed he was pulled off his station about 2 mins later.

Oh, good to know. We've frequently heard them "recruiting" people to come over to that line when it's empty, so that's a policy change for sure.

It is supposed to be for wheelchairs/ecv's but others try to use it. Sometimes they will let people in and sometimes not, depends on the CM and how many wc/ecv's are waiting.

We have used that entry in the morning at park opening. Usually people don't know it's an entrance line until a cast member starts telling them to come over.

I'll have to try it next time when there are lines at all the turnstiles, but no line there. I thought it was for tours or for people signed in by employees until I noticed the large group with paper tickets last time.
