I am not an adventurous eater at all.

What nasty/extreme/strange things have you consumed (and did you like it)?

I know I will get flamed for this one but the strangest thing I have ever eaten was OKRA. It was slimy, nasty tasting and I won't go near it with a 10 foot fork. I am a yankee as my DSIL tells me so that may have something to do with it, she is from the south and tells me that it really is good. All you that like it I am not trying to put you down. I just do not like it.

This probably isn't strange to alot of people but it is to me...breaded, deep fried alligator:eek: It was ok, tasted like chicken:)

Snake, shark, goat, snails, and alligator. The only one I really didn't like was the goat. No so much for the taste, but the texture. Its very stringy.

Ohhh, I had curried goat in Jamaica once. After alot of rum punch, I convinced myself it was steak:)

Me - probably the goat too. It was a choice at a wedding buffet we were at and the hosts insisted we try it.

DH - he travels alot and is more adventurous, so he has eaten stuff like alligator, reindeer and the web from the ducks foot, In china they consider that a delicacy they told him, stuff like that he tries.

Blackened alligator....it's good.

And I'm a really picky eater. Not sure how I ended up with an alligator in my mouth...

Snake, Rocky Mountain Oysters, cow's tongue, and frog legs.

rocky mountain oyster.... don't recommend.

Rattlesnake--it was breaded and fried and really did taste just like chicken. ;)

Crickets, jellyfish, chicken feet, natto (fermented soy bean). I'll try pretty much anything once.

Escargot - used to love it. Ate it last year on a cruise and decided I was no longer a fan.

Cow Tongue - Was encouraged to try it at a restaurant. Didn't like the texture - I felt like it was licking me back!

Rabbit. It was alright, not good but not terrible.

Interesting thread. I'm a foodie but I don't like to try new things. I don't eat really eat meats outside of beef, pork and chicken. BUT I love to watch them prepared and hear about them. Isn't that odd?

My husband will try most anything except for reproductive organs. He has eaten squirrel, alligator, ostrich, goat and pickled okra.

To the one who didn't like okra I don't blame you and I'm a Southerner! That stuff is nasty.

Fried octopus -- a whole, tiny octopus. I thought I would never get it down - the more I chewed, the bigger it felt. Will never do that again!

Also tried curried goat in Jamaica. Nasty and slimy.

As for okra, the only way to eat it is fried! I'm Southern & love fried okra. Won't touch it any other way though.

Rabbit. It was alright, not good but not terrible.

Now that you mention rabbit I think I tried a rabbit meal (sausage?) that was served one night in the WL concierge lounge.
