What is the slide like at Boardwalk?

I am going with 4 1/2 YO DD - she's not a confident swimmer, but was fairly comfortable with the slide at WL. She LOVES water slides, just scared at the bottom with the little rapid area.

Thanks!

Good sized slide....goes around and around, almost like a corkscrew. Not covered, is open all the way. Where it drops you off is about 4' deep. I saw lots of little ones using the slide but not with parents waiting at the bottom to catch them. So, it that's an issue you might want to be aware that the lifeguards could tell you to move over, out of the way.

The slide at Boardwalk is great! Best slide on property IMHO. It ends in about 4 1/2 feet of water, but you can station yourself close enough to the end to assist your child.
The slide is made to resemble a wooden roller coaster and has plenty of twists and turns.

We stayed there when DS was 6 and a bit apprehensive about the slide the first day. The lifeguard let DH stand off to the side a bit in case DS needed help but DS did fine. The lifeguards there were so friendly both times we stayed there. They learned my kids names over the week and would greet them by name. One promised to bring DD a splash ball the next day and did!
It is a great pool! :sunny:

The kids and I all love it! :) The best part about that slide is that your DD can wear a flotation device while riding - some slides (like at Stormalong Bay) won't allow that.

My almost 3 year old went down it. She can't swim but was wearing a life jacket. She was a little nervous the first time but she loved it, although she kept forgetting to close her mouth!

The great thing when I was there was it was not crowded it at all. So one of us would stay in the water over towards the left of the slide if your are in the pool and she would just glide right over. There is enough current that even though she couldn't swim it pushed her right to the edge. She can't wait to go back this May!

My kids LOVE the Boardwalk Slide! WOO HOO!! The lifeguards at BW are the best. They are very understanding if you need to be in the area when your child comes down the slide. Plus the kids land pretty close to the end so they don't have as far to swim to the edge, as say at SAB.
Another fun feature is the bridge. You can stand over the bridge as your daughter comes down the slide. I have some great pics of my kids on the slide. Have Fun! :Pinkbounc

The slide is fast and twisty, plus there is a pretty strong current at the bottom that pushes you away from the slide. With a not-so-confident swimmer, I would have them wear a life jacket, since it's deep at the base of the slide for a 4 1/2 year old.

It's a great slide..been down it it a few times myself. I personally would go down 1st or wait at the bottom for my child. It ends all of a sudden and although not very deep..it feels like there's a small current or something from the slide pushing you (IMO). My then 8 yr old DD did fine, but struggled once or twice..especially when the kid behind her didn't wait like he was supposed to and ended up practically on top of her. If it's crowded just be near by just in case. But it's a fun, fun, fun slide!

To the OP - I am so glad you asked this! We'll be going in May, and I was trying to figure out if that slide was something my kids would be okay on. :sunny:
