This is definitely the week for watching creepy movies - most stations are running them for Halloween.
The two that scared me most were The Shining...and Pet Sematary...actually, the book gave me the willies something FIERCE, and I tried to watch the movie, but I didn't get through it much better. They were both on today, but I couldn't watch for more than a few minutes...I'm such a wuss!
The one movie I will never watch a second time is The Exorcist. I was young, very scary and was home alone. It was before we had a TV with a changer. Tommy was in night school. It came on and I was literally too afraid to get up and change the channel. It was the meaning of "paralyzed with fear". To this day the music scares me. I probably would not think it all that scary today, but I will never know.
I LOVE the original Halloween, the Birds, Carrie and When a Stranger Calls. (That came out in my babysitting days. )
I haven't seen the Exorcist, or any of the Halloweens. My scariest movie is Candyman. I saw it years ago and it still creeps me out. I will not watch it again either!
Toss up between one of Barney's and any of the Teletubbies movies I had to watch with my kids.
Probably Hell Raisers. I wasn't really scared, but some of those images carry with me years after I saw it. My SO says Faces of Evil (the first one) is the scariest he's ever saw. I haven't seen it.
This one always freaks me out.....Killer Clowns From Outerspace!!!
Followed closely by....Nymphoid Barbarian In Dinosaur Hell!!!
HEHEHEHE!!!!
Did anyone else used to see these in the early 90's when the USA channel had that "Up All Night" show with Gilbert Godfried??? He too is pretty scary!!
The Exorcist is way creepy but the one that creeped me out the most was "All alone in the Dark..." I think this was the name but I was only 11 yrs old and watched it in the afternoon with my Dad and still got freaked.
I know this was actually meant to be funny, not scary, but for Private Eyes (yeah the one with Tim Conway & Don Knotts) scared me when I was really little because of the phantom.
I also used to have reoccuring nightmares about the headless horseman. I still remember it pretty vividly too. It didn't help that my folks had this creepy mirror (the mirror surface looked like marble with the viens being gold). In the dream the horseman's sword was the same surface as the mirror, only instead of gold, it was, of course blood red.
These days I don't think I've seen any movies lately that keep me up at night, but I'm still looking.
I know most 6 year old these days are probably pretty desensatized, but when I was little it scared me. Doesn't this poster look a little scary to you?
