What is the most UNDERRATED restaurant in WDW....and why?

Personally...my vote for the most underrated restaurant in WDW is Kona Cafe. My wife and I have been there twice and the food has been incredible both times. Plus, it's not hard to get a reservation. Our favorite restaurant is Le Cellier...but to be honest, the steak at Kona is almost as good and it's MUCH easier to get an ADR.

So I'm going with Kona Cafe. Who you got?

ohhh - Kona's a Good One!

I've always enjoyed Olivia's at Key West for breakfast. The food is good and fresh and usually it's not very busy at all.

A nice touch is all the pics of actual DVC owners. Reminds me of a small town cafe with a tropical touch.

I see Kona Cafe mentioned a lot on the boards, so I wouldn't call it underrated. But a restaurant that gets very little love here (and everywhere) that I enjoy immensely is the Coral Reef. I've always had excellent service and delicious eats. A glow-tini drink just works better here too :goodvibes

The counter service in Norway....it's so under rated I can't even rememeber the name :scared1: but it is soooo way yummy and an exceptional choice for counter service credit.

Kona is good but I will say the Turf Club at SSR. Absolutely, the best Prime Rib I have ever had. And, easy to get a reservation and outside dining if you are in to that.

For my family, it's Kouzzina. This place has been ravaged by harsh criticism across the Internet. In our experience, the negativity is completely unwarranted. I suspect a large portion of the restaurant's detractors make reservations without fully understanding what they are about to experience. The food at Kouzzina is relatively ethnic by Disney standards, and I think that surprises and disappoints the average guest.

If you enjoy Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, I strongly recommend trying Kouzzina.

My vote goes for the counter service options (en toto) at DHS. If you look around, there is a lot of variety in that park. Sure, there's lots of burgers and chicken strips on the menus, but there's also great hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, and more unusual items for those who look around.

You could arguably say the same thing about TS dining at DHS. Brown Derby is pricey, but we've always had great meals there. 50s Prime Time offers many savory dishes. Sci-Fi has good food -- if you know what to order. Same goes for Mama Melrose's. (I can't speak to Hollywood & Vine, as I haven't eaten there.)

I agree with previous posters...Kona, Kouzzina, or Turf Club. We've been very pleased at all three. the whole fish at Kouzzina was excellent and Turf Club makes the best Caesar salad on the property.

I know I'm going to catch some heat on this one, but we had a really poor experience at Kona and I just don't understand the rave reviews. Maybe it was an off night, but the seafood was cold and like rubber and the steak like beef jerky. Service was awful -- they ended up comping our meals.

That being said, although this is not an extravegant place I think it has great atmosphere and consistently good food and service. The Plaza in Magic Kingdom.

Don't want to hijack this thread but we'll be having dinner at Sci-Fi for the first time in November....what do you recommend? Three adults and a 10 year old. :)

Turf Club at SSR. One of my favorites. And so underated, I didn't even make a reservation there next trip!

I also think the Plaza at MK is underated. Its not a good deal on the DDP so a lot of people think its not a good choice.

The restaurant at Coronado Springs I can't think of the name but WOW! It was amazing both times we ate there.

Most of our favorite underappreciated restaurants have already been mentioned (Kona, Turf Club, counter service at Norway, Olivia's, Plaza), but one more I'd add is The Captain's Grill at YC...tasty food and relaxing atmosphere for either lunch or dinner.

Maya Grill? (That's the TS at CSR for sure, not sure if you were talking about TS or CS).

If that's the one you're thinking of, then I certainly agree. Went there twice last year and both times were excellent. Place was relatively quiet as well, which was a nice thing after the hustle and bustle of Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, and the likes of those.

I agree with the Plaza. We've always liked that one but I agree it's not a good deal on the DDP. We usually book with the DDP so we don't eat it as often but we have always like it.

My friend loved her meal at Grand Floridian Cafe. I'm trying it in September. She would definitely say it doesn't get its due.

Sanaa. I think people are afraid of the food there. It's also out of the way over at AKV.

I would say it's the Contempo Cafe at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Now I realize it's not a table service restaurant since it's a counter service location and some people might think great another Burger and Hot Dog location. Well if you look at their menu you will see they are not your typical counter service location, because their menu is well advanced then what you would see at some of the other WDW counter service locations.

Garden Grill. People think of it as just a character meal -- and I think many people who aren't interested in characters pass on it for that. I know I did until my little one started getting interested in meeting them.

Now, it's a place I visit every trip -- the food is really good, and the veggies are fresh because they're grown in The Land. They even have a decent organic beer (not from Disney, it's a microbrew, I believe)... and good beer is hard to come by at WDW.
