We need more room than a hotel room offers. Thinking about a cabin at FW, but my kids LOVE the themed pools at the resorts. I was reading on this site the description of "Recreation" under Fort Wilderness and reference was made to the "Huck Finn swimming hole" at FW which has water slides, rope swings, etc. According to this site - outside guests can go for a fee, and FW guests at a reduced fee. Is this the old River Country? I always thought they should re-open it for FW guests.

Yes, thats the old River Country. FW does not not have a themed pool, its just kinda of plain, sorry, my kids also like the slides etc. so I guess we try and plan a day at the water parks.

I thought the old River Country was completely closed. Is it open? We'll be at FW in March, sounds like fun.

Indeed, the Huck Finn Swimming Hole is the original name for River Country. River Country has been closed for some time, and will not open for the foreseeable future. It is now falling in to deep disrepair from neglict. While FW has two pools, neither are themed.
