What is the height of your breakfast bar (counter top)?

It's built in the middle of the room as a free standing unit. On one side is the kitchen sink, cabinets and dishwasher. We're going back to the house later today, so I'll take some pictures of it and post them.

It is on a half wall that was build...99 % of the time they are. I have a granite counter top business.

Bed Bath and Beyond used to carry stools that height. Target occasionally has them as well. I would check websites as well as in the store as they often have things on the website they don't carry in the store.

Nothing in the stores (around here anyway) but I did find a lot of 36" stools online. I can't believe how expensive they are, though. Sturdy, quality stools START around $150. and that's pretty much a basic, wooden backless stool. We just purchased a very nice table and four chairs for the kitchen area and the entire set cost less than four bar stools!

That tile and granite is beautiful!

I love the tile and granite. The picture doesn't do it justice! I prefer lighter colors over dark, and this house has a lot of lighter tones throughout.

Is this a model or the house you would buy?

The house is a former model home. We are renting in Tucson until we sell our house in Maine. The property management company that we've been leasing from knew we were looking for a larger house, and they showed us the model home that just went up for rent. We just signed a year's lease on it. The house is beautiful and we love everything about it, except for the height of the breakfast bar!:) It's a pretty minimal thing, though, and I'm sure we'll get used to it. The really nice thing about it being a former model home is that it is loaded with upgrades!

Oh, ok. I just didn't think of it as being a half wall.

Ok, I am glad you are just renting because those kitchen cabinets really bug me :lmao:. The one raised one is just silly looking. They should add another set of taller cabinets on the other end and unless the picture is goofy, the doors are crooked :lmao:. Nice kitchen otherwise. That is a layout I have always wanted to have in a kitchen.

I was looking on IKEA and they have a lot of options but I wasn't sure if the 36" you need was the seat hight or just the "height". They had a lot of stools for under $100 that were 40" stools but the seat height was more like 30".

Don't feel bad, we have 4 barstools in our basement we cannot use right now and I think we paid 250 per stool. The are very sturdy and nice chairs.

Next house...... I prefer the breakfast bar to be counter stool height. We plan on selling this house once dd graduates HS. I love it but it is a story and a half. I want a ranch house to retire in.

I had gotten a dining table, kitchen table, and barstools that all match in our last house. So the chairs are interchangable. They are a cream/coffee color palette and can be dressed up or down.

Which cabinet are you talking about? There are two raised cabinets by the microwave. I'm pretty sure it's the angle of the picture and that the cabinets aren't crooked, especially being a model home. Of course, now I'll have to check it out on our next trip to the house.

It's a seat height of 36" that is near impossible to find. There are also a lot of styles that I don't like. I'm not a fan of the metal, futuristic-looking stools, or anything with an upholstered or vinyl seat. I love IKEA, but sometimes it's a real hit or miss there.:rotfl:

ETA: Here's another view of the cabinets.

Yeah, I would not buy a house with a tall breakfast bar. I prefer the counter height as well. The model home we're moving into is a one story house. I have not lived in a one story house for many, many years, but we love the lay-out of this one. The main living part of the house is huge and very open, whereas the bedrooms are in all different areas of the house.

You were smart to buy dining/kitchen sets and stools that all match. The kitchen set we just bought doesn't really match our dining room set, and we haven't found ANY stools that suit us yet.

My bar is 43 inches from the floor to the granite top. My bar stools measure 25 inches from floor to cushioned seat top.

People and kids of all heights sit here and munch and chat while I cook and seem comfortable. Costco frequently sells bar stools for a great price.

Inside the kitchen the attached counter is lower and has the sink. I really like that the kitchen mess/ prep isn't so visible to the great room.

I like the kitchen in the photos!

The perfect height to really brain your three year old as he is running through the kitchen. Ours are 38 inches tall...

BTW, we've taken to calling our son "Lump" due to the number of times he's gonged himself on it...I personaly think he's begining to enjoy the occurences. ;)
