What is the free dining plan?

I've seen a bunch of posts regarding getting the dining plan free . . . can anyone tell me about that? I think we just paid an arm and two legs for the dining plan . . . lol. Thanks in advance for any help.

In order to take advantage of the free dining promotion, you must check in no earlier than August 23 and no later than September 20, and you must purchase a regular price room/tickets package. Under the promotion, you will then receive the basic dining plan at no extra cost.

The number of rooms offered with the promotion is limited and they may run out quickly at popular resorts.
