The only thing I purchased so far was a flat of pansies and that was $16.00. But only 24 plants. Now that I scaled back raising my plants myself, I’ll probably be out looking in another week or two and will let you know!
Last year flats were around $22. A small container of herbs was $3.50. It's expensive which is why I grow all of my own flowers and vegetables from seed. I have two 5-shelf units in the basement with LED shop lights. They work great! I get a lot more flowers for what I spend and they're colors and varieties that I want. Almost all of my flowers are for cut flowers rather than bedding plants.
We have Amish not too far from us and they bring flats and baskets in to a local grocer. Last year I got full flats for $10. Haven’t seen them this year yet.
Too early in many places for annuals. Usually closer to Memorial day is when annuals beome readily available in the north since you can still have frost prior to that time. Maybe those living in the south have longer growing seasons. In prior years, the price varied based on the type of annual. Large garden centers also seem to have better quality plants then the local Walmart even if their price is lower.
3x3 pots of herbs are cheaper from a local farmer $2.49 More in box stores and nurseries more like $3.49
Vetetable plants are between $3.50-$5.00
I try to grow most of what I like and need from seed and have grow lights. It's been too cool to place them outside when we do get an occasional sunny day. Hoping for the best!
