On my next trip to Florida we are kinda of planning a day trip over to USF . I was just wondering what is the best way to get there? We normally do not rent a car because Disney Transportaion is the best. What is our best bet, do we rent a car for a day? Or should we get a taxi? Where can you inquire in to these things, I know that you can rent cars at the Dolphin, how much would it be for the day? OR would it be cheaper to get a taxi?

Thanks for your help.

If it were me I would rent a car. That way you are not at someone else's mercy as far as time. You can leave when you want and not have to wait for a taxi/shuttle.

There is an AVIS counter in the Hilton at WDW (right across the street from Downtown Disney Marketplace).

Rent the car for the entire stay.

If you visit USF from WDW, you'll probably visit SWF as well.
Not to mention going out to dinner shows, grocery stores, and shops on I-drive.
They money you save from the limo ride to/from the airport, and to/from USF will make up for it.

If you don't want to rent a car for your entire stay, consider a town car service to and from Universal. When I did the math for my visit last Feb I figured out that it was cheaper to rent the car for the whole visit rather do the town car for all the legs of the trip, but I was going to Universal for 2 days. I didn't want to do Mears to and from Universal because I had planned on traveling alone with my 4yo and didn't want that hassle (turned out my sister drove to Orlando and met me there, so I didn't end up needing to rent a car).

We used Mears, but it was just the 2 of us, for a larger family a taxi or rental might be cheaper. I think the Mears shuttle was either 10.00 or 12.00 round trip apiece, and we just hopped on any mear shuttle when we wanted to return, you really are not tied into a certain time to come back, just have to save your ticket stub to return when you want to. If this is the only trip you are making out side of DW its definetly cheaper then renting a car for the day.
