What is the best way to clean a cookie sheet, sometimes they get a residue on them! I hate to toss them out. :confused3

Use parchment paper when baking, then you never have to clean the pans or spatulas, you just pull the cookies off the pan!

I don't have a good answer for you, because I use a Silpat mat from Williams-Sonoma, and it washes easily. Eventually, it gets a little grimy, as do the cookie sheets, and then I throw them all away and go buy new ones. Sorry I'm not more help!!!

I make a paste of baking soda and alittle water. Then use a scrubby pad. It might take some scrubbing but it works for me.

uuhhhh...

dawn dish soap and a sponge??

have I been doing it wrong all these years?

Stinkerbelle, I think the OP means when something has baked on. Dawn won't do it, then.

OH...I thought "umm...I'm not supposed to wash them?!?!" hehehe

I feel like a *******...heheheh...sorry!

I 2nd (or is it 3rd) the parchment paper. You'll never toss another cookies sheet again. Even better, they won't require cleaning each and every time and therefore won't develope rust spots so easily or quickly.

When they have that baked on gunky residue, use oven cleaner, Easy Off or anything like it. It really works wonders!!

I use parchment paper on my cookie sheets, it is wonderful to work with. Also, if you use a baking stone instead of cookie sheets, your cookies turn out great and the clean up is so so easy! :sunny:

Parchment paper works great for cookie sheets but Silpat pads are even better!

I find that residue worse when I spray pans with cooking spray. So I save two non-stick pans that I won't spray. I should use parchment paper more often.
