What is the best way to add 1 to existing ADR's?

We are headed on a family trip at Thanksgiving. Our ADR's are for 5 but I believe that DD's boyfriend will be joining us. I need to change those ADR's to 6. I am thinking that most tables that seat 5 really seat 6 and perhaps I can call and add him with little fuss?

What are your thoughts or recommendations?

Definitely call WDW Dining. You can't do it online other than cancelling the 5 altogether and and then hoping to be able to book the 6.

You may not have success initially. Just keep calling until you win the game of CM roulette.

You need to rebook, as it's not an issue of table size but of occupancy - which is determined by the fire codes.

Many people report being able to add to their ADR by walking up and asking, but if the restaurant is booked to capacity this won't work. (During free dining most restaurants are fully booked.) By taking care of it beforehand you avoid any nasty surprises.

Call. Show up with an extra person as a last resort. They may not be able to seat the extra person, and during a holiday the odds are even worse than they would normally be.

Call the dining line! I just changed my Ohana res from 6 people to 7 people over the phone last night. The CM was wonderful. Took all of 4 maybe 5 minutes. :)

We call if we need to change our ADR's to add or subtract a person.

Last year we did show up with one additional person for our 1900 Park Fare ADR. We had no idea he was eating with us until the last minute. The cast member said he could be added, but for a table of 6, we might have to wait up to an hour. Since it was our fault, we opted to wait. Thank goodness the restaurant wasn't full and it only took 20 minutes.

Although we had a good experience showing up with another person, I would never take it for granted that the restaurant would accommodate us.

YOu have to call or go online to try to get a new reservation before hand. At Thanksgiving, I would think most restaurants are at capacity and it will not be easy to just show up with one extra. It is not such much the table size as capacity for codes.

Good luck.
