I am going in three weeks to WDW....and although we have been 6 times ...this is the trip with the least amt. of planning so far. I am sort of in crunch mode trying to absorb as much as possible in the next three weeks. So I would love to hear great tips and advice you got and used that you were happy they worked while there. TIA

Denise (we have three kids ages 14, 11 and 6)

You should check the Tips board right here on the DIS. Also there is a great thread at the top of the theme parks board with lots of great information. You will have a great trip.

Thanks. I am still trying to find my way around this board. LOL It sure has a ton of information. If you notice I joined back in July of 04 when we started planning the trip...but with my kids crazy schedule..I hardly ever found the time to plan it all out like I usually do. So now it is CRUNCH TIME.

I think some of the best tips I ever got were
Arriving at the parks early when the open
Resting in the afternoon at your hotel and returning to parks later
Sharing meals because the portions are huge
Having some type of plan for each day so you don't wander aimlessly
Staying on site

My all time winner:

Don't walk to closely behind the horse drawn trolley car on Main Street.

After my 3rd trip to Disney was when I finally found this board...I wish it had been earlier....My 1st 3 trips were fun but exhausting...we rushed around to do this and that instead of relaxing and enjoying the overall experience Disney offers....its not just about rides, or just about characters...Its about everything combined...the theming, the memories, the chance encounters then add rides and characters....So the best advice especially with younger children is to relax pace yourself and take in the atmosphere of disney all the way down to the trash cans....if you also plan you will get just as much done and take away alot more...just my 2 cents....have fun!!!!

Best tip I've gotten from this board was about the discount codes for hotel reservations.

Two things tie for best
Discounts
Town cars

I have to agree about the Towncar tip. I never would have thought to use anyone except Mears if it weren't for these boards and using a towncar company and the grocery stop that came with it made for a much nicer (and cheaper) trip.

I also have to agree with not rushing to do everything. Your trip will be SO much more enjoyable if you take breaks and don't exhaust yourself and your family by trying to do and see everything.

Another important one is....ALWAYS PLAN ENOUGH TIME FOR TRAVEL AT THE PARKS. If you have to be at a dinner PS at 7pm, give yourself plently of time to get there!

Eat at odd times. Lunch at 11am is a lot less crowded than at noon.

When riding the Buzz Lightyear Ride and approaching the orange robot, turned around and aim at the target on his hand. It's worth 100,000 points. I was able to get the maximum score with this tip!!! :earboy2:

I've received tips about waking up Tink, how to sign up for Veteran of the day, to go early to the parks, eat at off times, AP discounts on resorts and the most recent tip was about the DDE card! I've actually received many more tips, but it would take too much room!

I love the DIS!

One of my favorites was to get the last breakfast seating at Chef Mickey's. We ate at 10:50 and as CM's started clearing out we had lots of quality time with Mickey and the gang. We had a light breakfast before heading out and made CM's our big meal of the day.
