What is the best timeshare resort in Orlando or families and why?

THANKS for the reply. We are planning to arrive May 30 or 31st. Nothing is coming up on the exchange for any of the Marriotts (although strangely when you look at the Getaways available for that week Marriott Cypress Harbour and grande vista and Horizonz are all available for Getaways that week! Grrr...) We love Cypress Harbour and that would be my first pick if available. Of the three above, Cypress Pointe, Liki Tiki and Calypso Cay, in your opinion are any of those less conveniently located to Disney? It is a bit hard to tell from the maps on II. By the way, I have a seven year old daughter--any thoughts on which of the three she would prefer? THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR INPUT!

Um... i just did a search for May 30th, and Cypress Harbour came up (5/30 - 6 / 6). Also Grande Vista came up. Maybe try again, it just opened up or something?

Hi Lindsmom,

Thanks. I just ran the search again and, again, it is showing CH and GV available as getaways that week, but when I ran it thru my exchange deposit, they were not available for exchange. Strange, I know???? Maybe it is because my deposit is an efficiency...but always in the past that has not been a problem to exchange to a one or two bedroom if that was all that was available at that resort. I think I will call II when I get home today to see if they can book the exchange for me at CH or GV. Thanks again for your help.

DVC is our first timeshare, and I can say I am extremely satisfied with it. We bought into Saratoga Springs and have stayed there twice out of our last four visits. My mother owns a timeshare, thru who I don't know, and is happy with it.
I hope to someday get another 100-150 points for our DVC timeshare so we can take trips more often. I only wish that the economy swings around fairly soon and people can once again afford to take more trips. We fell in love with WDW as so many millions have over the years and want to be able to pass the gifrt of our DVC to our children and grandchildren(one day).

your timeshare might have been downgraded and now not letting you see what you could do before - hope not. that problem can take years to correct and only if the timeshare agrees

Cypress Pointe is less than a mile - might be 1/2 mile from the DD hotels. Calypso Cay was a little further but closer than Cypress harbour or grande vista.

Liki Tiki is the furthest away - it is past Orange lake almost to us 27.

also this is the start of the summer break season - so it might take a better trader to get the Marriott now.

So it looks like there will be 14 of us going in July. Two grandparents, two sets of parents, and 8 kids ranging from 2-16. Would you do a 4 bedroom at Westgate Lakes or 3 seperate places at Horizons? It's kind of nice having one place to have extra hands and older kids to entertain the little ones, but when a baby is up all night, it gets kind of close quarters. Hmmmm....

3 separate at Horizons.

marriott is much, much easier to deal with than Westgate will ever be.

I had a horrible experience at Westgate Lakes and vowed I would NEVER EVER EVER stay at any Westgate property again. PLEASE do not stay there!!!!!! I agree with previous poster that Marriott is much easier to deal with.

Just thought I'd let you know what happened with II, since you were both so nice to help me yesterday. I called to exchange, and although NO Marriott Resorts were showing online as available to me for exchange beginning May 30th or 31st, the agent said she had Horizons and Grande Vista available. I booked Horizons. She said yes, she could see where I was seeing Cypress Harbour as available as a Getaway for those dates, but it was not available for exchange. I asked for an explanation and she would only say that is just how it is, that sometimes resorts have getaways available but not exchanges for the same dates. :confused3 I am glad I called, even though it cost me an extra $10 to exchange by phone instead of online.

Thanks again for your input!

think that was $10 well spend.
if your kids are little they will love the pool stuff.

Cypress pointe is getting a rehab NOW. so that one would have definitely been okay. But it is certainly not a Marriott.

at the other marriott - they offer a wine tasting - it is not free but only cost $5. It is definitely worth it - ask when you check in if it is offered. Sign up fast - it definitely sells out.

of course only if you are interested in wine.

Oh, I'm so glad to hear that! Since you said you've been to CH already, I won't go on about how much I LOVE CH! That's good to know to call just in case... Have a GREAT TRIP!

We also booked Horizons. I asked my SIL, who owns the timeshare, to call II and ask a question. Well she called and said she got nervous and just said ok book it. So we have 2-2 bedrooms July 24-31. Now I have to decided if I want to spend the money on Disney tickets and brave the heat and crowds or come up with a different game plan.
