Just still keeping my options open and wanted to know where the best room locations/views are at Wilderness Lodge? This is still a TOP on our list of resorts for our WDW summer 2008 vacation and at first we were looking at a standard view room but thinking of upgrading to something else. I would like a room that has a nice view and a nice balcony with chairs where we can sip coffee or have a glass of wine and relax when not at the parks. I don't want a view of service areas/parking lots. What would be the BEST to get at Wilderness Lodge. Thanks for helping out :thumbsup2

Okay..here's my take on this. I have stayed in this resort MANY times. I've had a woods view, a courtyard view, a standard view, and what is now a Villa Pool view..which is the same rate as the Courtyard view. The resort is U shaped..one out side of the U is going to face Woods..and the very top floors may have some rooms with a view of the fireworks..there aren't many. Chances you're gonna get that when you request a woods view..I don't think are great, but you can try. We've had "woods views"..that literally looked at woods..and were acutally buggy. I, like you very much enjoy sitting on the balcony. It's VERY important to me. Like to have our coffee and relax in the mornings, and enjoy a cocktail in the evening. It's just my feeling that I don't want to take a chance with a woods view again. For one thing we heard the delivery trucks beeping as the backed in during early morning hours, and the smoke house odor didn't do anything for me either. We did request another view the very next morning, and they were extremely accomodating and moved us to a Courtyard view..no charge. If for ANY reason you don't like your room, ask to be changed the front desk at the WL is very helpful. Courtyard view..some people love em...me not so much. This is the center part of the U. If you are on one side..you are going to be looking directly across the U at the other side. Maybe it's me..but twice..there were rooms where people had their towels or bathing suits hanging to dry on the balconies. Personally if I want to look at laundry..I'll look at the hamper in my laundry room:laundy: . Also, I just felt sort of on display..I figure if I can see right into the rooms across the U..they can see into ours as well. It can also be a bit noisy depending on what's going on at the pool. It is a beautiful courtyard however, with the rockscaped pool and grounds as your view.
My favorite view...Villa Pool View. It is the outside of the U shaped resort that faces the Villa's and the Villa pool. It overlooks a walking/ bike path that leads from the marina to the villas..and even leads to the front of the resort. This view also was originally a "woods view" prior to the Villas being built. The villas themselves are quite lovely to look at, and the pool is quiet, and peaceful. There is enough to look at to do a bit of people watching..without anyone being able to see up into your room. It's quiet..but I'm not looking at a tree. Beautifully landscaped, and often see the bunnies and ducks walking about. People who have rented bikes from the marina..even the surrey bikes riding by. Perfect..not to busy..not boring. I love it. This side of the resort also offers a villa courtyard...meaning you won't be looking at the pool, but just the villa courtyard itself. My son had that view..we were down a few rooms and had perfectly lovely view of the pool..Very nice in the evenings.
Hope I didn't confuse you too much. In any case, the WL is the most beautiful resort on Disney property, and like I said, if for any reason you don't like your view, don't hesitate to see if have something else available for you.:wizard:

We had room #4140- it was quiet and had a nice view of the villas/woods. Anything on this side (i.e. even numbers) would be nice, I think. We discovered the odd-numbered rooms across the hall were quite noisy, as we were placed there first (#4141)!

I love the inner courtyard view.....
ask for a high floor......less noise and prettier view....

The 6th floor has enclosed balconies.....meaning you cant see anything
when you sit down.....
I did like this for the privacy feature....but you have to stand up to
see anything.

Ask for 4 or 5th floor inner courtyard....should be perfect.

We had 4150 a couple of weeks ago, and loved that view! It was called courtyard (we were upgraded from standard, which we've had also) and it was a view of the villas and the pool and spa. Never noisy...
