What is the best resort to buy?

Im a seven seas lagoon girl so id pick one on the monorail line, blt or poly for me.

I just love seeing the castle and fireworks at night and the monorail that takes you to some of the best restaurants at vgf.

Also a members lounge at blt for when I can go 🤣

WDW - VGF love that I can hop on the monorail to get to the MK and have a nice ride back (both 1st stops) and the rooms (except for cheaping out on an extra bathroom like the other monorail resorts :( )
DL: VGC Service can't be beat from front desk to the people waiting on you at the pool.
Beach: HHI it is much easier for us to get here is the number 1 but the cast members are certainly top notch. Rooms seem much bigger to me than AUL and I'm not eaten alive by the no see ums at VB
Value: SSR tops CCV for us as it sleeps 5 without having to get a 2 bedroom also you have more time to play the 7 month mark as SSR is one of the last to sell out.

I'm answering primarily based on economics/value. But, buying DVC is part economics, part emotion, so YMMV.

For resale, I've increasingly come to the conclusion that CCV is the best value. The contract expires in 2068, the dues are reasonable, and you can buy contracts for less upfront money than BLT, Poly, or VGF, all three of which have earlier expiration dates than CCV. SSR isn't a bad choice either, but dues are higher and expiration date is significantly earlier than any of the aforementioned resorts.

For direct, it's hard to beat Poly at the moment - lowest dues, very good resale value. That said, my heart is with RIV and that is why I have all my direct points there.

I’m not sure I follow this part??

I probably should have said less $/point than those resorts. Just making the point that when comparing the cost of say, a 150 point contract at CCV/BLT/VGF/Poly, you can probably get CCV for the lowest amount of up front money, but it also has the furthest out expiration date. On the flip side, dues at BLT/VGF/Poly are all currently lower than CCV.

IMO it's the one you would be proud to say you're an owner of.

So much of purchasing DVC is as much of an emotional decision as it is a financial decision. When someone asks me what my home resorts are, I'm happy to say they're RIV, AKV and AUL. We haven't been owners for long but they already feel part of who I am. I have so much RIV merch and I just spent another 150 on DVC merch this past weekend on a whim because it was busy at Epcot and decided I just wanted to go to our home resort. I know not everyone feels this way but I definitely would be feeling some regret if I hadn't bought where I loved and some of that comes through as just being a proud owner of the resorts I have.

VGF hands down. The dues are really low and if you want to blow them at the Grand you can but if you want to strech your points you can usually trade out to a lower point resort like OKW, AKV or SSR.

As for my personal reasoning, it is all about the resort. We stay in 1bdrms and the shower alone in those rooms would sell me. They are huge and so nice. I love the stand alone tub the robes. The views even from the standard view are nice, the main building and/or the monorail and sometimess fireworks. THe OG building lobby is quiet and relaxing but if you want to people watch you can walk over to the main building and enjoy humanity. It has walking to both Gaspy's and Capt Cook's. You can walk to MK, ride a boat or Monorail.

And for my family it is truly our home away from home.
