I don't see much mentioned about Old Key West, Saratoga Springs, etc. How are the Vacation Resorts compared to the regular resorts? Which resort is better? TIA
There is no comparison - the DVC resorts are the best. Of course I am a DVC member. You can take a virtual tour of the rooms on the Disney reservation website. You will see Disney Vaction Homes listed. There will be a link on the page to a virtual tour. If you go to Disney every year or every two years you should look into becoming a member. If you go occassionally you should look into renting points from a DVC member once you understand the risk. Renters can save 20-60% off the rack rates.
The best DVC is whichever one I'm currently visiting! Each one has its own merits, and dictates the "mood" of the vacation. I like a variety of experiences, so the fact that each has its own personality is appealing to me.
The DVC resorts are by far, the best resorts at the "world". I'm a member so I'm definitely biased. . OKW is a great resort, with a "laid-back" feel to it. My family and I love returning to the relaxing atmosphere after a loooong, packed day in the parks. We stay long enough where we can rent bikes and enjoy the spectacular scenery around the resort. One of the things I love the most is when you first arrive and the guard at the gate house says "Welcome Home" That is absolutely the greatest feeling.
We have stayed at moderates and deluxes, and none of them are as nice as OKW or SSR! OKW is our hands down favorite, but SSR is very well appointed, as are all of the DVC resorts. You don't hear much about them because they are basically for members.

The reality is that what's best for me might not be the same for you. We prefer OKW but would we make the same choices if the points were all the same? Maybe, maybe not. And in part it depends on whether you will have a car, the age of the people traveling, your preferences and which parks you prefer to visit. My second fav is BWV, in part, becaues of the reduced costs for standard view and the current option of guaranteeing a BW view. They are all great in their own way and all have flaws that could be improved upon.
Phew! Poked my head in here figuring there'd be a brawl along the lines of "Less Filling!" vs. "Tastes Great!" except pertaining to specific DVC resorts.
I'm glad to see everyone has remained civil, lol.
So far, my favorites are the ones I've stayed at. I plan to stay at all of them, at some point (no pun intended, he he).
